A quick tip for buying genuine software discs.
Many upgrades nowadays come as a compilation, of a different disc for each country, and those of you using this system will be familiar with changing to a different disc when you go abroad. For this reason, its often worth trawling some of the foreign internet sites, Ebay.de for instance, as you will often find that our overseas friends are also buying these compilation sets and couldn`t really give a stuff about the UK discs and would welcome the chance to offload them. Same goes for those of you who have the sets, if you are never likely to drive in Spain or Germany, then thats where you should list your discs for resale. Obvious when you think about it !!

That's good advice Dave, except if you have OCD like me, which would prevent you from splitting up a perfectly uniform and regimented set of discs... My skin is itching at the thought!! :D

That's how I get mine, from sellers on ebay.de who wish to sell the discs they don't use.

Probably due to the amount of dust they are collecting on the shelf from being unused !

You will get an original Nav disk but upgrade disk is burned because only one comes with the set......

So why the constant need to update firmware then ? You are running a serious risk of any firmware updates being far too too fast and processor hungry for a 20 year old nav system to entertain.
A bit like trying to run Vista on a 1st generation PC133 home computer - it was simply never meant for it.
::)
Also, Philips have been defunct for well over ten years now, and it is unlikely that they have released any firmware upgrades in this time either
:-X

Right, lets settle this.
Last set available is/was 2011. Only available as a multi disk set covering Europe. Despite what Navteq say, you do NOT need the update disk. The software IS on the map disk.
Think its around £200 - can't check as Navteq's shitty useless website is, not uncommonly, running so slow, I can't be arsed.

ok thanks for that, starts searching for 2011 disc, think mine is 2008 ;)
