Title: been spending.....
Post by: V6drift on 23 March 2008, 19:29:12
ive just got round to getting the rocker cover gaskets, plugs and cambelt kit fitted   ;)
i bought genuine GM parts and got a mate to fit them (15 years ex vauxhall mechanic) at a small cost of £150 ::)
he said the gaskets were like plastic and the plugs and leads were totally submerged in oil but it still ran smooth  :o
but now i have a problem, now its dry its got a missfire from tickover to 2500rpm  >:(

are the HT leads knackered now :question

it could also be the dis pack (or both) it is awkward to change the leads but not technically difficult in any way.im sure there are guides / photos etc on the site which will assist. :y.........if its running worse after being worked on you might want to check, have the plug leads been put back in the correct order, have the correct type of plugs been used and has the cambelt definetely been fitted correctly.

it ran perfect before the work,
i had it worked on by an ex vauxhall mechanic so it should have been done right,
the only difference is the spark plug ports were full of oil and now they are dry,
also on one of the ht leads, some of the rubber shield on the plug end is missing,
any ideas?

yes it is missing on tickover,
to start with it was on tickover and upto 2k but only when it was hot,
now its missing on tickover and all the way through the revs all of the time...

Sounds like hes connected the plug leads on the dis pack for the 2-4-6 bank up wrong.

If he has, dont run it or you could hole a piston.
