Our ten year old Wallstar boiler decided to go tits up a couple of weeks ago.
You can hear the pump circulating the water and the indicator light on the boiler itself is lit. However, there is no sight or sound whatsoever of the boiler "firing up"
Basically it's deader than tank tops and a lot of people ( who don't appreciate my sterling efforts) are doing a lot of complaining.... :( :( :( :(
Any ideas , chaps?.... :y
P.S. I refuse to pay some hairy-arsed repair man to do the job. ;) ;) ;) ;D

If the pilot light is lit but the burner it not lighting, i'd change the thermocouple ;)

Thanks TG.......I should have said that it runs on oil........so no pilot light to my (limited) knowledge. ;)

Imo, same rules apply :y
If it burns something then they will be a build up of crap in there so give it a good clean then take it from there :y

my uncle has one of them did the same thing as yours turn out to be a blocked filter. changed it and re primed the line and was working again.

Thanks, Freecall. There is plenty of oil in the tank and I can see that it is reaching the pump ( which I replaced myself a few years ago when it started to leak badly) There is just no sign of ignition.
The reset button is not glowing red either.........so pressing it will not start/restart the boiler. :-\

Had similar problem recently with my oil burner.
In mine the pump cuts out after a while if it cannot get enough fuel - not the problem on yours from what you say. But be aware that if your tank(s) have been subject to too lower a temperature the fuel will be thicker and the boiler may not be getting enough. A common problem in these recent temperatures, is the nozzle jet gets blocked. The fuel gets blown through such a tiny hole that the tiniest bit of crap can block it. Start by cleaning out filters and nozzle with paraffin (ideally replace them).
Don't forget to open up the boiler and vacuum out all the soot.

If mains power is getting to the boiler when the heating calls for it but the boiler hasn't "tripped" due to an ignition failure, etc. and is showing no other signs of life such as the fan starting or ignitor sparking I would be looking at the boiler thermostat to start with.
There may be other safety devices such as thermal trips, interlock switches, etc. in the supply to the controller itself, so see if the controller is getting power first.
If it has, you need to understand the sequence of events that culminate in the boiler firing and make sure everything is happening.
