Hi Guy`s
Had the eml light on since i got the car [2.0 16v estate] a couple of months ago, its been off road while i do repairs. I did a code read when i first got it and air flow meter and cam sensor came up. These are jobs done so far
Oil and filter
Air filter
Exhaust manifold studs removed
All gaskets from Vaux
Plugs and leads
Rocker cover gasket
Blanked off egr[all electrical connections still connected]
Genuine air flow meter
Camshaft sensor[ cheap ebay part]
Coolant renewal
Car runs excellent, although eml is still glowing constantly!.. Could this be down to the cheapo ebay cam sensor?..seem to remember reading that they are not too good.
I have just purchased a genuine vaux cam sensor but it has another connector with it, and this has 4 wires?...the one fitted to car now has 3...do i just connect the correct colour coded wires and disregard the other?..
Appreciate any comments
Regards
Andy

you need to buy a genuine 3 pin sensor, the one you have bought is the modified version, which is 4 pin with an oval plug im guessing.
the original sensor would be a 3 pin rectangular square edge plug...cheapo ebay aftermarket sensors wont work properly on the omega.
part number AS90458252.GENUINE SIEMENS.
hth :)

Hi
Yes i thought it was the incorrect sensor, but it has 3 pins just like the old one. Although as you say it has the rounded plug...I found this while surfing...

the main difference is the plug, the original unit is a direct replacement so you you dont have to cut into the sensor wiring, which is far easier than putting in through crimps and ending up with poor continuity on the joints...autovaux in wakey stock the original part ive mention... :)

Cheers
Not too bad with the soldering so will go with the later modified one, was just unsure about that extra wire. But with that link i read and stripping the wire back i see what i needed to do..Thanks for the heads up on the place in wakey having the part.. duh, been to Wakefield today too.. ???

If you buy from those scumbags Autovaux, ensure the part comes in a genuine GM packet, with he the hologram.
They have a habit of sending out pattern parts, claiming to be genuine.

or try AndyC on this forum, he'll mail order a genuine part to you :y

Hi guy`s
Wired in the new sensor , genuine vaux part.......should have done that in the first place. My own fault for using a naff cheap ebay part. Car is sorted now...
