Whether it's the same car or not I'm not sure, but it was a Peel P50 that J Clarkson drove through the BBC
-
Wonder what crash protection you have? :-?
-
wonder what the NCAP rating is :D :D :D
-
Nah, 'Darling' will be taxing them £1000 a year next time if more than two are in use on the mainland. ;D

Found it - same car ..... not suprisingly. ;)
I've been passenger in a 1963 Reliant Regal. It's a bit scary! No seat belts, flat out at 50 mph although your ears are starting to bleed at 40 & the most obviously a wheel missing! ;) :y A Peel must be terrifying
-
LPG it :D
clarkson drove the standard blue one thru the office but then "unveiled" that sports version at the end of the episode

It'd never have the guts to pull the tank along! ;D

NCAP, Probably minus, -2 ;D ;D
However for an alternative that looks good, how about the Bond Bug http://www.3wheelers.com/bbug.html There are still a few about, about 2500 were originally produced, and the chassis looks to have a fair bit of steel in it (Good idea in a crash!). Now one of these with an up to date engine, or even electric could be quite good. Anyone fancy starting up the Reliant business again ?

I've always fancied a Bond Bug. Reckon they'd go quite well with a GSXR1100 lump up front. :y Cheap on the road tax as well.
Lifting the front wheel could be an issue, I guess. ;D

There's one with a Hyabussa engine in somewhere.
I think it might be this one ....

Possibly the only time I would advise having a drink before driving ;D ;D ;D

Yes, but I like the Bond Mini car rather than the bug, one hell of a sleeper and was originaly powered by a motorcycle engine. :) :) :)

I think they were scary in standard form. A colleague of mine was recounting his brief bug ownership a while back. He was dong about 90 along the M3 (down hill, i presume) and swerved to avoid something. Ended up on its' roof, fortunately on the hard shoulder. Bye bye Bond Bug. :'( Change of underwear required but otherwise unscathed. :o

I drove a Bond Bug when i was 15!! Great fun. As regards the clip, why not? I think they're a good laugh if you can afford one of course.
Dare to be different??? :y

A sleeper? You it fell asleep? ;D A Villiers 175cc stuck on the front driven wheel. 4 forward gears & 4 reverse :o, cos you ran the engine backwards to make the car go backwards. :-?

Oh yes, very tasty :y :y Now one of these, with electric motors putting out 75BHP, might catch on in a big way, esp with the low VED that trikes used to enjoy, plus the clowns in whitehall would have to give it the thumbs up, cause its environmentally friendly ;D ;D
Modify the drive, put in two motors in the back at the wheel hubs, and fill the front with batteries, it would handle well and be a hoot to drive. Imagine 4 wheel, sorry 3 wheel drifts in that ! ;D ;D

You could drive at 16 though, can you still?

i remember the police trying to catch one around here a while ago, not a chance, the T5s and Omegas were left for dead and they couldn't sting it either . In the end a range rover slammed the brakes on in front of it and the robin just fell apart , and the prat who stole it was sat in the middle of the road just holding a steering wheel. lmao ;D ;D

Doubt it. AFAIK 16 yr olds are only allowd to ride a 49/50cc moped. I don't know how the rules have changed since the days of Fizzies that had a pair of pedals just to comply with the rules either.

when i was a kid i wasnt allowed to even look at a motor bike ,One day i was playing football in my grans garden and accidentally hit one of her rose bushes .i said iwas sorry and all the rest of it and she said it didn't matter . i thought id got off too lightly but thought no more about it until a few days later when my Dad gave me a thick ear for riding a motor bike .Guess who he got his information from even though it was bull$hit. (i would even know where to start, even now.
-
When I first thought about a bike, Mum said NO. However I got an old Bantam 150, and rebuilt the engine. A second Dad came into our life, and he and Mum came to see me driving the Bike. I forgot to open the air vent on the carb, which throttled it down to about 15mph max. "See" said my new Dad, "it doesn't go that fast, perfectly safe", and I was allowed to keep it !. I fondly remember stripping it down and painting the frame on the Kitchen Table with Blue Hammerite, fitting Ace bars, making a foam filled seat and cutting down the mudguards. Looked good, shame it wasn't that fast ;D ;D

No I drove a Bond bug when I was younger (it turned up as a prank free test drive from Wilkinsons in Scarborough). I got my own back by advertising "a light aircraft and a rare stamp" in the local paper at knockdown price with his name and phone number)
What you need is a Tata Nano. Now that they are on the verge of buying Land Rover and Jaguar look out for variants in the future.
Four wheel drive
V8 ( for James)
Sports versions based on Jag components.
Convertable
Luxury pack (heater, window winders, rear seats, carpets, wood veneer)
All very exciting.
;D

It looks like a slightly shrunk Ford Ka though. I think I'd rather have a Bond Bug. 8-)
