Title: Tracking or wheel geometry?

Hi Guys,

I have 99 omega 2.5td elite running on the standard 16" alloy/tyre setup.

I noticed that both the front tyres have worn considerably on the inside yet the rest of the tyres are like new. I've only had the tyres on about a year and don't do much mileage in it but couldn't confirm the exact mileage i've done on the tyres.

Anyway, should I just get the tracking done or would you recommend a full geometry setup. If the geometry option is needed, can anyone let me know what this entails and costs as has anybody had this done and noticed any benefits/improvements?

If the car is a keeper, or any good, then full Geo is the way to go..

It's usaually reported on here to be a camber issue, however the last two times I've had inner tyre wear and gone to WIM, the only adjustments needed have been front toe... :y

The car should be a keeper I hope, fingers crossed, only done 130k so far. I've had it since it had 75k and it's never given me any serious problems.

How much does a setup cost on average. Also are these WIM places national or do I have to drive some distance to get to a reliable one?

Very well covered subject this, see the FAQ and guide sections.

All part of age and wear and tear unfortunately.

If the car is on its original front bushes/wishbones they'll need changing by now. So in short, examine for steering ans suspension faults, rectify, full geometric set up at the likes of wheels in motion, only then should new tyres be fitted(if possible)

Act quickly though, it's not uncommon for the tyre to wear through if left unchecked.

I wish! Around £60+VAT at the Chesham branch, official price at any of the others is £95+VAT (Iirc) but well worth it :y
