How the hell can these f*ckwits live with themselfs ?
I don't think I could :(
-
Sounds more like a Monty Python sketch to me..... >:(
-
Unbelievable to me, not exactly a flowing river is it, Im surprised a member of the public didn't wade in, I'd like to think I would have gone in, under the circumstances.
3 mins for the Brigade to arrive then another 11 mins waiting for the Water Crew, from memory of my Scuba Diving days, your Brain can survive after drowning 3 - 4 mins in fresh water and 7 -10 mins in salt water, so good chance could have been resuscitated if dealt with promptly.
-
Off duty as a human being that day, presumably?
-
Probably, truth of the matter is that members of the public sat around because they assumed the Emergency Services where on scene and had it all under control?
-
???
thats something beyond my understanding.. :-X
-
If we've come to this right across the Country, then we as a Nation are in even deeper sh*t than I thought possible! >:(
-
If this is as reported, I'm speechless
-
Unfortunately, under this 'ealth and safety madness, if the fireman in charge had allowed this and the fireman who went in got into difficulties and died, then he would be sacked and charged with corporate manslaughter. ::) ::)
Risk assessment and health and safety policies are a ludicrous box ticking and a waste of money in many businesses, especially with office work where the biggest danger is cutting yourself on the edge of a piece of paper. :o :o :o
-
just unbeliveable how nobody did a thing....heath and safety has just been taken to the extreme its the same in construction it beggers belife at times
shamefull loss of someones life

lets see if the filters work....this country has become a oppsin joke and god damn it makes me angry how pathetic it has become, some silly bastard decided to let people claim for tripping over a chuffin pebble and them some other silly bastard thought it would be good to prevent this by going over board and preventing people from doing there job(are you allowed to change a bulb at work or does a risk assesment have to be done by tenders and then method statements on how they will do it and charge £399 for oppss sake its a 10 second job)pubs are closing daily..another british way of life going forever cos when the pub business is gone the building turns into a curry house.when is some normal bloke with some balls and authority gonna put a stop to this lunacy and say opps it theres nowt wrong with your neck and dont be bloody stupid yer dont need a scaffold tower for that yer daft bastard get up that ladder....little rant over cos i could go on all night >:( >:( >:( >:(
that bloke died cos of a lack of human respect that this country has lost,i would like to think that if i was there i would of been in and that is how at one time people would of done but powers that be are sapping patriotism from the english man

I'm in no way trying to defend what happened in Gosport I don't know the park but this could very well be the other side of the coin ........ http://www.independent.co.uk/news/fireman-drowns-in-hunt-for-boy-1116814.html :-\ :-\

I cant swim but Id have little hesitation in going in (provided that it was reasonably obvious that the water was no more than chest height ). Of course such inncidents are reported as much to sell papers as anything else so that they dont always give you all the facts. The co-ordinating officer stated that the body had been there for a lenghth of time that made it a case of retrieval rather than life saving and therefore did not want to put others at risk. IF his asessment was correct then maybe he had a point-but its a bloody big assumption. How could he really be 100%sure? HASAW does have its place (cast your minds back and Im sure most of us can recall practices that went on that were often downright dangerous not to say stupid or reckless prior to legislation being enforced), but like so much else in our politically correct/blame culture/nanny state it has too often now gone beyond the realms of "common sense". Under most conditions of course the "ideal" would be to comply with all the regs but this was not one of those instances. This was a time when "rules" should be broken, when individuals should be allowed to make their own assessments, use their own initiative and act as they feel right and sod the rulebook because greater things are at stake. Another example of the decline in people taking accountability/responsibility for themselves >:(

That's what I read in a paper at work today. Original fire crew were apparently only trained to work in water up to ankle depth & had to wait till those who were qualified to chest deep water turned up. ??? ???

The RLSS have been training children and young adults to do this type of rescue safely for decades. Why a whole fire engine of grown adults could not beggars belief!

I am trying to imagine a scenario where, in the face of my boss asking me not to help a dying man in case he gets in the sh1t, I would NOT tell him to shove it.
Has this H&S culture really got so ingrained into people that they behave in this way?

In a word, yes :(
The majority of people nowdays are terified to make a decesion incase it breaks a rule somewhere or offends someone :(
One thing I have found out about civvy street since I left the forces is the majority of the public have no common sence :(
Nobody will take the initiative in any situation.
They would rather stand there and discuss / argue with themselfs rather then someone take charge and get the rather job done >:(
And you can guarentee when the sh*t hits the fan and something bad happens, the first thing they say is .............. nowt to do with me / not my job >:( >:(
