Just been to collect my Phaeton from VW.
VW dealer had had an interesting day.
A VW Touareg (2005) customer had asked for the price of a service earlier in week and was unhappy at the VW price. He took it to KwikFit yesterday. Less than a mile from Kwik Fit engine had dropped its oil. Recovered to VW where engine found to be seized - £12000 is quote for damage. Kwik Fit managers have been around to VW to try and sort something out.
Sump plug not properly tightened is suggestion

oops!
if they even remembered to put the new oil in!

no there was oil all over everything and all over VW dealer's floor when recovered and left there

Sorry to hear your problem mate - but there's lots off bad vibes and stories of terrible service on here over the years re Kwik Sh1t so I'm suprised you'd trust them with such a nice motor!
No doubt it'll be sorted - just make sure they pay up in full for the rectification and inconvience. ;)

Not his car, he was just there when it came in ;)

How is the Phaeton? How much was the service if you don't mind me asking?

Phaeton is brilliant - my usual journeys are between 210 miles and 250 miles without stopping and you arrive without feeling tired and it is a pleasure to drive. Only problem I have had was a VW recall for water pump which was not giving a problem but the dealer messed up and it had to go back in - I posted on this a month or so ago - all sorted now.
Service costs - the intermediate oil service is £150 and the major is £290. So basically that is it for 20000 miles as I have elected for time and distance and not long life servicing. If you pay £379 in advance you get the 2 services (value £440)and 2 MOTs say £45 each and so they claim you are £530 less £379 better off = £151 over 2 years. There is also something else I think.
They also service the ac and bacteria purge the cabin once every 2 years and that is another £95.

Quite reasonable then, thanks for info. Its one of the possibles for a future replacement of the Omega :)
