Title: Knock sensors
Post by: 05omegav6 on 27 February 2012, 00:04:43
What are the possible side effects of running with one unplugged :-\. Currently idling/running ok, but...

1. spanner light on, eml off.
2. codes are: 0300
                   0306
                   0430
                   0420

and unsurprisingly 0330.

Still trying to sort the rough running/idle, and got to thinking that the knock sensor might be causing the issue if the valves on pot 6 aren't quite closing as smoothly as they should :-\

im sure the knock sensor is used to set the timing but maybe some of the senior members can shed more light

Big power loss as the ECU backs the ignition timing right off!

Currently only side effect seems to be spanner light :-\ will still pull 0-60 in 7 secs so no apparant loss of power, and seems more economical to boot ;)

What are the symptoms if a knock sensor fails/how reliable are they? :-\

Car idles smoothly, even when left idling for a while. Previously after 30 secs or so it would be rougher than a dead badger ::), no starting issues either.
