WIth age, the blowers can get noisey and end up sounding like a jet engine, they can simply be un-plugged and forgotten baout as they are not needed for MOT tests etc.

Mine does sound like a jet engine and the mechanic recommended changing it as the "bearings" of the motor has gone  :-/

Is it worth changing it?.........or just unplug it?

Omega General Help / Fan for the exhaust?

After handing over the money to the garage to fit a cam belt kit etc

The mechanic explained to me the small fan motor that comes on; on cold start was a fan thats blows warm air through the exhaust system........ Is that right?

QUOTE 3 IS THE FULL  BELT KIT I HOPE. :y

Yes it was the full kit!
In my lunch break I took a little strole down to the garage; they were very helpful, they explained everything showing me the complete cam belt kit, aux belt and why they thought the water pump needed replacing.

It was only on this rare occasion I decided to let someone else do the work + I had the money ;)

I have to finish my other 4 cars before being able to fit the Omega in my workshop.  ::)

Omega General Help / Cam Belt............Good price?
« on: 22 November 2007, 14:01:45 »
After careful consideration (better safe than sorry) I decided to have the Cam belt changed on my V6 Elite.
Firstly I phned around for some quotes; I got quite a supprise.
Quote 1 £430 (A garage recommended by a friend)
Quote 2 £390-420 (Main Dealer)
Quote 3 £275 (A local garage 5mins up the road)
Quote 4 I WON'T TOUCH IT (That was a Vauxhall Mechanic gone private!!)

I decided to go with Quote 3; mainly because I can drop and walk to work!
I also had fitted a water pump + new aux Belt.

Total cost £416  :o was this a good price?

So maybe a logbook error!

Thanks. maybe I should look into the service history aswell.

Omega General Help / MV6 - Elite?
« on: 19 November 2007, 12:20:28 »
Good Afternoon to all,

Could someone explain the main differences between the MV6 and Elite?

I have recently bought what I thought was 3.0l saloon Elite, manual.
When I received the documents during the week-end, the description was MV6.
Any thoughts? - good or bad.
Many thanks.

Omega General Help / Twin Fans

Hello, Is it normal for the Two cooling fans to be on for 30seconds or so on start-up?

This may be normal for a Omega  :-?

Omega General Help / Re: V6 2.5 or 3.2?
« on: 01 November 2007, 11:11:09 »
I must admit untill a year ago I thought Autos were for the "Older" generation. ::)
That was untill I bought a Rover 820SLi 2.0l Auto, there was two reasons for buying such a vehicle
1. Eventhough it had been sitting on a driveway for 3 years, The leather interior was immaculate!
2. It cost £60  ;)

Now after nearly a year of comfortable driving I have grown to like it!
But I am happy to go back to a manual especially a 3.0litre  8-)

Good Afternoon, Many thanks for all you views!!! :y

What did I choose between a V6 2.5 or 3.2?

Well as luck would have it I decided to look around again and found a OMEGA ELITE V6 3litre and it's a manual!!! on a W-reg with only 88,000miles & with a full service history (Which the last service was in July 2007).

Any guesses on how much? ;)

Omega General Help / V6 2.5 or 3.2?
« on: 26 October 2007, 16:43:09 »
Once again id like to thank everyone for the warm welcome to you site!  :)

On the beginners page under V6 Virgin, I asked the question what to look for when buying an Omega V6?
Even though I would still like the answer to that question I have another..........
Looking on eBay I found a rather nice 3.2litre version which has less miles and is newer!

The question is........ What (if any) are the advantages/dis-advantages between an Omega Elite V6 2.5 and 3.2litre?

And more to the point what would you buy?
