If halogen lamps are fitted headlamp washers can be defective as they are not part of the mot test

If we are talking xenon/hid lamps disconect the pipes pull the fuse unplug the pump etc if they don't work they can not be tested and the benefit of the doubt must be given.
If one jet works and the other doesn't it is a obvious defect and can fail the mot.

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.   Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems.  In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.

Omega General Help / Climate control issue

98 mfl elite 3.0l climate control not controlling correctly if it is set at lo great blows cold set at high blows nice and hot set it any where else and it has a mind of its own set it let's say 22 it gets to around that figure then starts blowing cold again, try upping it a few degrees and still the same(cold) but if you put it back at hi will get hot again any ideas ?
I've had a quick look at the rods on the actuators and they all seem to be ok.

I had something along those lines when I was in Ireland with my old 2.5gls the aux coolant pump had seized and blew a fuse think it was a 20a one iirc, it gave all the symptoms of a alternator gone, oh if it is that fuse that has blown unplug the pump before putting a new fuse in otherwise they can smoke a lot lol.

I wanted a stainless system as the after market ones kept failing, so booked it in asked them to copy the standard system from the cats back with all mounting points and flanges, so basically a stock exhaust in stainless, they quoted me and I said ok go ahead.
And what I got was the flanges cut off the cats 1 centre box and 1 pipe to the back box and a bodge of hangers no flanges or joints completely welded.
Now the lambda probes have gone week and the cats are rattling, ordered new lambda probes but they are seized into the down pipes so ordered new after market cats and boy is it a pain in the arse trying to get them to fit.
I'm now binning the stainless heap of shat and going back to a normal one

Vectra xenons do a self test when first turned on, iirc there is a ecu in the driver side wing behind the headlamp this has a short loom that water can get into causing problems with the o/s light, I'm sure the o/s light ecu feeds the n/s ecu in a master and slave situation.

Omega General Help / Re: Heater matrix.
« on: 23 January 2016, 09:56:21 »
I must of been unlucky when I bought mine, but as I wasnt aware it needed the foam when I opened the box I didnt complained to ECP as needed it as existing removedand due to major coolant all foam/etc was soaking  :(

Matrix was fine though and fitted as explained so I agree parts are fine just be aware you need the foam  :y

I had the same problem from ecp the matrix did come with a foam strip but on the n/s of the matrix had no rubber blanking piece so the heater box would no longer be sealed like with the o.e. one and the cut outs in the o.e.one didn't match the replacement matrix so it couldn't be used I just ended up going to Vauxhall and getting a genuine one

N/s of the upper plenum, silver L shaped cylindrical item with a rubber hose on it held to the plenum by a rubber bracket, un plug the connector remove the hose pull it out of the plenum turn it 90 defy and slide it out the bracket, clean with carb cleaner and a brush and flick it clock and anti-clockwise to make sure the valve is free and not sticking then give it a light spray with lubricating oil then refit and let us know how you got on.

As its an estate does your rear washer work ? I have known this with other cars in the past where the washer pipe has split, not to sure where it runs on the omega estate, another thought does your a/c work and are the a/c drains clear ?, had this once with my vectra didn't twig it till I tasted the water to see if it was coolant or screen wash lol.

Yep they can be a pain at times but as soon as one of the retainers is compressed it should come out easy just be careful when fitting the new bulb I've known the adjusters in the lamp to break.
