Omega General Help / Immobilizer doesn't always activate

The immobilizer only comes on occasionally. I wonder if it will mean a lot of expense or is there something that I can do myself?

Does anyone know how to open the car when the battery is completely flat and the key doesn't engage? I left the boot open and the battery is completely down.
I try the key and it begins to lift the latch but then it slips and the latch drops.
