Yep, looked like a good deal to me. :y  Also, this is from the same dealership where I bought my first car back in 1982 (a mark1 Cavalier) - same guy in the sales office too!

Petrol/Diesel? Roughly how much was it can I ask?

2.0 CDTi and about £13k after the PX.

General Car Chat / Sad day

A sad day today as I have said goodbye to my 2.2 CD auto after nearly 5 years and 40,000 miles.  :( :'(  A lovely car to drive and very few problems; never let me down and in daily use for business and pleasure! The last few months have been more problematic with rough running when cold, which we can't get to the bottom of - possibly head gasket on the way out as coolant level has started to drop as well. On the plus side, I have managed to trade the Omega against a two year old Astra SRi Sports Tourer with 3.5k on the clock; a completely different car yet also very comfortable and great to drive with even more ooomph than the Omega. That brings to an end approximately 10 years of Omega ownership in total but I hope to stay on this forum as it's been great fun and very helpful over the years - certainly the best car owners forum I've ever seen.

Great video; like it  :y

That sounds a bit like the problem I'm getting with my 2.2 after having new coil pack and rocker covers. Still haven't got to the bottom of it yet though.

Yes, genuine VX coil pack, and no coolant loss. I have no idea how long the plugs have been in there. I have had the car 5 years and done 40k miles, and can't remember having the plugs replaced in that time.

Been checked over and apparently all OK but could be one starting to fail.

I've had problems with water leaking in to #4 plug on my 2.2 CD auto. The leaks been sealed, new rocker cover and new coil pack. Everything seems to be fine except when starting from cold it runs very rough for a few seconds before settling down. Doesn't always do this, but more often than not it does. Sometimes it sounds like it's going to cut out and I expect the warning light to come on, but so far this hasn't happened. Once it's warmed up it seems to be running smoothly but on a trip to Cornwall with a full load a couple of weeks ago I thought I could detect a slight misfire when the engine was working hard (ie. going up hills on the A30!). Coil pack and rocker cover was replaced about three weeks ago and it's been like this since then. Any ideas?

Mine showed 44.7 mpg average today from Manchester to Liverpool  :o :y

Very impressive. How accurate do you think? My 35mpg was with no passengers, a small amount of luggage in the boot and mainly at a steady 70 - 80 mph on the motorway.

Just got over 35mpg on a round trip from Somerset to the Lake District from my Omega 2.2 auto.  :)  Pretty pleased with that as on my usual running around I rarely get better than 23mpg.

Thanks for the comments. When he turns the key there is nothing, the engine doesn't turnover at all so it sounds like it might be the ignition switch.  :y

General Car Chat / Saab problem
« on: 17 August 2013, 20:10:43 »
My father has a 12 year old Saab 9-5 2.3 petrol automatic estate which has recently development an intermittent starting problem. About once a week it refuses to start, when he turns the key nothing happens. An hour or so later it will start, but that's not very helpful when your parked in a hospital car park! Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

That is an old Avon County Council mobile library with Longwell Green bodywork. I noticed the old Bath registration plates so looked it up and found some pictures on Flickr. Just thought you'd like to know  :)

Mine have been stuck for ages. They used to work and luckily they got stuck in the correct driving position for me  :y

Sorry to disappoint but that hasn't been replaced in the last six months. In fact I can't recall having it replaced since I bought the car - so that'll probably be the next thing to go!  :y
