They were bought as standard replacements - they're not vented (but mine was a 2.5, not a 2.6)

They're Lemforder and the part number on the box is LC44513.

Standard set or vented mate?

Dunno. I'll have a butcher's tomorrow.

Hi guys

I'm afraid I had to let the old girl go a few months ago.

But clearing out in the shed yesterday I came across a pair of rear discs I'd bought but never fitted.

If anybody wants them they're yours for the cost of shipping and a pint!

PM me if you're interested.

The poor old girl went for scrap in the end - I exchanged her for 200 sovs about an hour ago. Shame, but there we go.

MODERATORS. Can you lock this thread now please?

Ok guys. Last chance. £200 stops her going to the crushers - which would be a shame as, for the want of a couple of wishbone bushes and some tlc, she could easily give someone a couple or three year's reliable motoring! C'mon peeps, give the old girl a decent home in her twilight years!

Ok guys. No takers. Consensus seems to be the price is too high. So.....

£275 sound better?

General Car Chat / Re: Anybody know about Insignias?

Well after two days motoring I can sum it up in one word..... "why?".

Sure the auto-release on the handbrake seemed to work ok - but no better than a conventional hill start. So, apart from generating a revenue stream later in life when the system fails and cars start to fail MoT, I can't see why Vx bothered.

As for the footbrake auto-hold - what's that all about? You take your foot off the brake and the car starts to roll! Just like I'd expect it to do! Slam it back on, handbrake on, gingerly release in case it hasn't worked, start again. Gap in traffic gone - hold it on the clutch next time! (Burning smell? What burning smell? Rental cars don't have burning smells!)

Would I buy one? Would I fu****!

Sounds like a bloody minefield! Luckily most of my drive will be on the M4 - where there ain't too many hills! Hopefully, when I get off the other end, there won't be too many either!

Just had a rental Insignia delivered and it's got one of those automatic hill start jobbies! It's a manual gearbox and it has no handbrake lever - some clever gubbins it supposed to make hill starts "easier" lol!

Can anybody talk me through the sequence of events to pull away up a hill without rolling back into the car behind?

It isn't a bottom end rattle guys and the oil light only ever flickered on the once - it hasn't done it since.

I'm afraid the leak is still there but my belief is that this is due to my not having cleared the breather's out properly. If I pop the dipstick (to relieve the pressure) the leak stops.

Meant to change the title. Without that, nobody's going to take another look, are they!
