Using a standard 3 pin hazard flasher unit and 5 pin changeover relay....

Let's say volunteer and emergency... That should give you a clue took me about an hour to configure it....

Would I be able to use the connections for the blind instead of wiring in a fuse etc??

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Some general questions!!
« on: 16 May 2010, 20:16:35 »
Hi all, I'm adding a bit of wiring to my v6 for a couple of toys todo with my voluntary work....

1. What's the easiest way to remove the blanking plate were the blind switch would be - do I need to remove the stereo and surround to remove this plate??

2. Is there a live feed behind this blanking plate which I could use for these toys??

3. What's the easiest way to route some cable to the light switch/light stalk??

4. After routing the above, what the easiest way to route the cable towards the engine bay/front of car??

Regards

Shaun

i agree halfords exeter are useless!!

if you ever need any other audio work need doing try Robert @ Exe Car Audio, he's mobile and does alot of work around exeter/east devon and pretty resonable on prices...

the other option is try daveDND on here, hes down in paignton..

Try looking on fleabay for them aswell, you can normally pick up packs of 10 for about £2ish... I found this out after buying from the stealers!!!

cheers guys!!! :y

just hope its easier than my previous experience with the estima !

The only things i found awkward were getting the MID display disconnected as its a short cable and the other thing was the little cover behind the steering wheel column, i took my time the first time as i didn't want to break anything but it's more robust than i thought!!

the bulb part numbers through vaux exeter are V0093190471 and are 51p + vat retail so should be the same throught the stealers. I was confused when i got them as they dont come with the seats.. see below..

Good luck!

The only tools you will need are

2 x butter knifes
1 x phillips screwdriver
1 x small flat screwdriver

it's quite diddly getting the dash out, the first time I tried it it took me about 20 mins, now I've got it down to about 5 mins!! Just take your time.. I have the part number for the bulbs from vauxhall somewhere, I will dig them out...

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Electrical interference...
« on: 18 April 2010, 17:16:08 »
Hi dave

it's an icom m59, using a mini magmount at the moment but will be changing to fixed aerial within the next month... There is no change in pitch at all and I'm using a wire 12v male connector for cig lighter as hbent had time to hard wire it..

I have also checked the interference with a handheld radio in
my car and also interfers with that aswell.

I've also tested the radios in my other halfs car and there is
no interference at all...

Where abouts in Paignton are you?? I may be able to pop down at somepoint if needed

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Electrical interference...
« on: 18 April 2010, 16:11:29 »
Hi again!!

I hope this is in the correct section..

I have just fitted a VHF Marine radio in my car as I belong to the local lifeboat but I have come across electrical interference on one of the channels.. Although this frequency is prone to inteference it only happens when the ignition is turned on...

What will I need to stop this interference?? Does te altenator need somethig to stop this???

On the details about membership of Autobahnstormers it mentions that main agent discount is available at participating branches. Is there is list anywhere showing which branches will give the discount. ...Also do you have to own a 6 cylinder to join or is 4 ok as well ?? Cheers

my local branch in honiton is not on the list on the site but gives the discount..

Hi  everybody.

This club card seems to be the thing to have !
How do you qualify for one?

Thanks Keel ::) :o

check out the link in my signature..

it cost £20 from ABS, you get a quarterly magazine and obviously the trade card. when you get the trade card, you need to register it with your local vauxhall dealer which all details are supplied in the letter...

its definately worth having and will save you heaps in the end..

Omega General Help / Re: Head Gasket Change
« on: 17 July 2010, 16:46:54 »
check in the maintenance section on how to..

heres the link
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1187928695

theres no pics but a full description.

whats exactly wrong?? i kjnow it sounds like a dumb sort of question but reading through alot of posts the head gaskets rarely fail on v6's...

heres the quote from the guide.....

Quote
I will start by saying that Head Gasket failure is extremely rare on the V6 models due to the robust design of the engine. The symptoms often associated with head gasket failure on most engines, can be generated on the Omega’s by a range of other causes.

For example, over pressurising of the cooling system can be caused by blockages, or faulty Heater Bypass Valves, and oil in the coolant can be caused by failed Oil coolers.

I would recommend posting in the general help section with a comprehensive description of your cars symptoms, before condemning the head gasket(s).

Omega General Help / Sidelight removal??
« on: 12 July 2010, 16:27:48 »
Hi lads and lasses...

Just a quick question

I'm changing over my orange sidelight lenses to clear..

How do you remove them from the wing???

I've tried sliding them/pulling them but they don't seem to want to budge...

Cheers

Shaun
