Cars for Sale & wanted / WANTED - Estate with t&t.
« on: 19 January 2014, 21:31:50 »
Hi all.

I'm looking for an estate. I'd consider any really as my budget is £500. I'd prefer something with tax and test as I've got no more money to spend.

I'm a bit tired of my golf convertible as I've got two dogs and they try and jump on my knee when I'm driving.

Any help would be very much appreciated. :y :-* :-* :-*

General Discussion Area / Home Wine Making
« on: 13 December 2013, 12:49:00 »
I've been making wine at home again. Just thought I'd recommend this kit, with Christmas coming up.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WINEBUDDY-chardonnay-merlot-cabernet-sauvignon-sauv-blanc-30-BOTTLES-sugar-/310645111136?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&var=610193141388&hash=item4853e43960

You can make 30 bottles of wine for £30.

All you need is a fermenting bucket, a large spoon, an air lock and some sterilizer.

You can save a fortune. It only takes a week to make. Some kits only take 5 days!

You can use plastic pop bottles to store it. Or drink it out of the bucket if you prefer. :o :y

General Discussion Area / Cycling a New Fish Tank
« on: 11 December 2013, 21:06:15 »
I'm getting a new fish tank soon and was wondering what is the best way to cycle it? I'm not new to keeping fish - I've had a few tropical tanks in the past but I want my new fish to be as healthy as possible.

Is it best to use the ammonia method of food method?

Should I do a fishless cycle?

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated as I love this hobby but it's horrible when your fish die.

My last tank.

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Muslim Patrol's
« on: 07 December 2013, 14:40:41 »
I think Muslim Patrol's are becoming more popular in London. A friend of mine who lives in East London told me that they even bundle non Muslims into cars to remove them from 'their' area's.

General Discussion Area / RIP British Britain

I found this list of traits that make us British.

Do you think these traits will 'die' due to immigration?

Or will the traits be adopted by the 'new British'?

Have any of the traits already died?

Should we all adopt the ways of new cultures?

Will you be sad to see any of these traits lost?

What do you think?

General Discussion Area / Category C LGV Training
« on: 29 November 2013, 12:09:49 »
Does anyone know where you can do category C LGV training that doesn't cost a fortune? Most places seem to charge over £1000. I'd really like to do C+E too but that doubles the cost.

Is it even worth doing? I don't know if there any any decent jobs. All you here about are people being laid off these days.

I've already got my provisional from when I did some bus driver training.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm sick of not working but I can't go back to teaching. It's 'orrible. ;D

General Car Chat / Mot Question
« on: 01 October 2013, 17:49:50 »
Hi all.

I have a question about the MOT.

The brake discs on my car are rusty and pitted. Would it fail the test on that? Also, the handbrake button sticks so it is difficult to set. Is this an Mot failure?

Many thanks for your help. :y :-* :-* :-*

Cars for Sale & wanted / Wanted - Cheap Omega - Any considered
« on: 30 September 2013, 10:43:42 »
Hi everyone.

I realise that this is a long shot but I'm looking for a cheap omega with some t&t. I've just moved house so funds are extremely tight - my budget is only £300.

The MOT runs out on my Golf in about a week and I don't think it will pass as all the brake discs are corroded and the handbrake lever keeps sticking. The front tyres need replacing too.

I live in Warlingham in Surrey now so a car is essential. Walking is a problem for me due to health problems. :'(

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. :y :-* :-* :-*

General Car Chat / Which Omega Would You Buy?
« on: 12 September 2013, 20:56:14 »
Hi all.

I'm saving up for my next Omega. I have few questions for you which will help me decide what sort of miggy to get. Here goes:

1. Why did you pick the Omega/s you've got now?
2. Did you regret your choice and if so, why?
3. If you haven't got an Omega now then why not?
4. Which Omega engine is best/worst?
5. Is a leather interior better than cloth?
6. If your current car got written off and you were buying another Omega then what spec would you go for? (engine size, trim, model etc.)
7. What's the best thing about the Omega?
8. What's the worst?
9. Is MPG a serious issue for you?
10. Is there a better alternative to the Omega when taking into account price and comfort levels etc?

Thanks in advance. :y

General Discussion Area / Mosques
« on: 25 August 2013, 00:10:31 »
I live literally over the road to a mosque.  It is about 40m away.

The Police are always hanging around.

Would you be worried in this situation?

I was planning on exchanging my housing association home recently but cancelled as the lady I was swapping with said she was having second thoughts. In the meantime I found a more suitable property.

The lady I was exchanging with has ordered Talk Talk services to be switched on at my home on 28th August. This means my Sky services will be switched off. I rang Sky and they said they couldn't stop this, I had to ask my exchange partner to do it. I have tried but she is ignoring me.

Has anyone else had this problem?

How can I stop this happening? I tried ringing Talk Talk but I got this Indian lady who could hardly speak any English so she couldn't do anything.

Ofcom won't investigate individual cases.

Thanks for any advice. :y

General Discussion Area / Got attacked trying to stop a robbery
« on: 12 August 2013, 16:33:47 »
Hi everyone.

Went to the little shop in my street on Saturday night with the dog. Heard loud screaming to my left. It was a woman being robbed by a guy on a motorbike. I ran over pushed the robber off his bike and he jumped up and punched me hard in the face. He tried to get away again so I pushed him off again and got punched again. He gave the lady her iPhone back so I would stop. He got back on again and lashed out at me again. I wouldn't let him go. The bike fell over and then he ran off.

This is the result:
