According to Miss Vamps we have joined the human race and bought a new Samsung LCD TV, but it wants to switch off after 4 hours, and the sleep and anything else I could find is switched off, is this just something we have to live with?...............

Is there something added to modern plaster to get a smooth finish? we are having some plastering done and now some of it is dry I had to have a feel.... it's fantastically smooth - like a baby's bottom....   far better than I seem to recall new plaster of years ago.........

I have had the ceiling replaced with new boards and skim, the walls are being done tomorrow / monday, my question is how long do I have to leave it before I can decorate?

Currently camped in the lounge with the old settee and the tv on the floor.......

Bought a new settee today as well.............

If I were to drop my working week from 5 days to 3 days per week, anyone know what the nett % dropp would be each month? 

I know if you work half time you nett more than half of full time pay, something to do with tax and ni I believe, just wondered if there was a ball park figure - just a thought.......

The other option might be to get early retirement and then go back part time.......

Up here there is to be a mixture of Auxiliary Fire Fighters and the use of non striking and recently retired Fire Fighters, (a conflict of interests surely)  not sure if Retained Fire Fighters are on strike or not.....

General Car Chat / A towing weight question

My Jeep is being borrowed on Sunday to tow a horsebox to a show, I was rather reluctant but SIL in a fix so you do what you have to.....

Cant access the manual at the moment so just looking around on the internet Auto trader site put the maximum towing weight as 750 kg....   LWB 2.7 diesel...... we all see swb land rovers towing huge loads. A check on the internet for towing capacity says 5000lbs which is 2.2 Tonnes which is around what I would have expected. Generally other 4x4 on auto trader seem to be 750kg

Am I getting this all wrong?....

As above really, 2 boys 21 and 23 living at home, currently we ask for £40 per week, this is a figure we asked for my eldest stepson years ago, now married with his own child, what do others ask? Both are working full time at average wages, not quite sure exactly what but Master Vamps is pretty well off.........
