Top Job as always, cheers Daz, was good to see you again!  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Facelift / Prefacelift ashtrays
« on: 21 January 2015, 21:16:30 »
Question, the Facelift centre console ashtray has a four pin plug with three contacts wired, basically two live feeds and a 0v return. The switching for the illumination is obtained by a switch mounted in the rear of the ashtray assembly.

Looking at a pre-facelift ashtray there are four contacts wired on the same style plug. Does anyone know why? I presume the illumination switch isn't built into the ashtray on these models?

I ask for a valid reason!!!

Omega General Help / Steering wheel swap
« on: 15 December 2014, 22:07:29 »
Just acquired a mint steering wheel from DiamondBlackGeezer  :y

I note that the contactor unit that sits behind the wheel has instructions to rotate it 2.5 times anticlockwise before fitting?

Why?

What happens if I get it wrong? Indeed is it possible to?

Am I best just leaving the one already on the car in place and ditching the one that came with the wheel?

One on my 2.6 looks a bit tatty, especially now i've ditched the wood trim it shows up more!

Omega General Help / Wiper travel
« on: 23 October 2014, 18:28:42 »
I've read the guide for setting the wiper parking but the problem I have is that when the wipers are in use the drivers wiper rides to far over to the right (hits the windscreen A pillar trim) and the passenger wiper just clips the bonnet edge on return. When they are parked they park in the right place.

Are there any other adjustments I can make? I've gone through the process of repositioning the arms but can't improve the above situation.

General Car Chat / Winter Vehicle

Was looking at this....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-SAAB-9000-CS-TURBO-AUTO-GREEN-IN-WORKING-ORDER-/321547279697?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4addb61d51

...and thinking, put in a cheeky offer, tax it for 6 months, use it through the winter, when the weather improves SORN it and strip the parts to sell on Ebay then extract the 2.3 and plonk it in a tidied up Calibra.....

Only slight issue with the plan is that I would likely have my nads removed with a skewer by Mrs VXL!

General Car Chat / Many Thanks to Serek

Cheers for the chat and sorting out the Aircon on my 2.6. So much more pleasant to drive now I can keep the windows closed on the motorway and it doesn't mist up first thing in the morning anymore! Also thank you for swapping the selector arm over for the original - the key has come out without issue every time I've put the car in park since.  :y

General Car Chat / Corsa D key blade
« on: 29 September 2014, 19:01:57 »
Is it possible to buy just the key blade for a flip key pre cut from Vauxhall (obviously supplying the car pass and V5 for the dealer to check ownership).

Fathers Corsa was supplied with only one key when he bought it second hand a while back. He would now like to purchase a second key. I can program the fob and immobiliser but need to check full key price and blade price.

General Car Chat / 2.6 / 3.2 Specific Radiators - Found a supplier
« on: 09 September 2014, 17:40:22 »
As I think we all know on here, sourcing a new 2.6 / 3.2 radiator without resorting to taking over £230 into a Vx dealer is a tall order, everyone reckons they sell them but they always end up being a 2.5 / 3.0 radiator with integral ATF cooler and no external mounts.

I have found a supplier who can supply a pattern radiator for these later V6's and I'm happy to say that the quality seems to be every bit as good as the original. The brackets are present for the external ATF rad to be mounted as well as the bracket to support the ATF pipes. The only variation over the original is that the top of the radiator has two seams rather than one which means that the fan frame for the engine bay side fan needs a slight modification to the plastic mount on the top to clear the seam (nothing major). Price at time of writing was £103.83 inc delivery and VAT.

The supplier is Car Cooling - www.carcooling.co.uk

It's worth dropping an email to the site to confirm that you require the late 2.6/3.2 radiator but they are quick to reply to any emails sent.

NB. I have no connection with the owners or business.

Omega General Help / LPG Questions
« on: 04 September 2014, 13:19:40 »
Quick questions for those with LPG installs.

I'm planning to install the vapouriser on the O/S inner wing where the aux pump used to reside (I believe this is where most have put it), I haven't got the kit as yet but wondered how this is fixed? Can you utilise the studs that are present on the inner wing?

Running the power feed to the ECU (planning to mount it where the self leveling pump currently resides) whats the best route for those wires? I'm a little concerned that running them around the slam panel area will cause them to go brittle over time with the heat from the radiator and condensor.

Diag connection - has anyone extended the lead and run it into the cabin fuseboard area? Just want to keep it tidy?

Injector loom - presumably the neatest way to do this is too graft the two looms together removing the piggy back connectors and original loom injector connectors and soldering them together.

TIA

Part number 120L456 KZ:EK

The later radiator with the mounts for the external ATF cooler.

If anyone has a known good non-leaking one to tide me over for a bit / or a brand new one  ::) please let me know a price  :y

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Radiator sensor refitting
« on: 26 August 2014, 16:07:03 »
Bit of a dumb question really!

Going to reuse the sensors off my radiator on my new radiator on the 2.6, presumably a clean up of the copper washer with some fine emery paper would be advisable? or do I just replace the washers?

NB. Sensors are fine - not had an oil cooler failure, just a leaking radiator.  :y

General Car Chat / Dunlop Sport Maxx RT

For those that are running them...Thoughts please.

Last tyres were Continental SC3 XL.

This is for the 3.2, running -30mm Eibach springs, B4 shocks, lemforder wishbones with polyflex front bushes and Meyle HD droplinks. Car currently setup to the standard settings that WIM advise for a LSC car.

Any rubbing issues on the front struts / are the XL variants sufficiently wider with the rim protection to cause this and what speed rating do you go for (presumably Y as that's what seems most common)

I await replies while
