General Discussion Area / Track Rods
« on: 15 June 2007, 18:18:11 »
Changed the Track Rods on both side today And Ohhhh do i need in tracking up I must of been abit out in my guesstemate of the lenth of them it was one scary ride home.

I had the Girl Friend sit in the car yesterday turning the steering wheel back and forth and i was feeling the ball joints as she did and found the near side track rod end was loose and thats why i replaced them today but after replacing them i still have a slight klonk when i move the steering back and forth when the car is not moving Grrrr I am hoping its just the trackrods being miles out and once the tracking is done it will go. I guess it could be one of the other ball joints under there if its not i guess its the steering Box  :'( If it is I be getting that rippedout and another put in.

The Amount of time I am putting into this I better find out what is is

General Discussion Area / Just gotten back from the hospital
« on: 12 June 2007, 22:41:33 »
My clever Girl Friend Detective that she is worked out why I have massive Blisters all over the backs of my hands and on my arms.

She worked out at it was Giant Hog Weed plant that has caused it that i cut down on saturday

Turns out by what the internet said and the doc at the hospital if you get the sap on you its not to bad but if you get the sap on you and then expose it to sun light thats when it blisters badly 48 hours later which it did. by i got a shock when i woke up in the morning.

Worst case is it can take upto 1 to 7 years to clear up GULP  :o  :o and cause demititus and blindness if it gets in the eyes

Its not nice the blisters weeps all the time and if i use a pin to get the liquid out it fills back up in no time at all.

So Just a Warning Dont Go Near Giant Hog Weed plants its a total pain in the backside Nasty Nasty Stuff

General Discussion Area / Omega DVD

Hiya Chaps

As Some Of you know we Recorded on of the Cam Belt changes on Sat but it ended up getting far to dark to continue the filming.

Had a Chat to James on Sat about Doing a Recording of a cam belt Change of an Engine out of its bay so that everything could be seen and the angle would not be naff.

I would really like to film with two cameras all the How To's. I can and make a kind of Hains DVD Manual This is going to take some time to finish the whole thing but i really think it would be worth it.

Also Once finish We could sell it on Ebay for a good price and a reduced price for members of the forum.

I think a good old list of things that would be needed from Advanced to beginner would be good.

I know there is a list in another post about the Breathers.

What Do You Think ?

« on: 19 April 2007, 10:34:32 »
I have Been Doing Some Reading On The Web (You Can Tell Its A Quite Day at Work) And I have seen lots of threads and posts from different Forums Swearing Acetone is the best thing since sliced Bread as an Additive to petrol.

What is it And where Do you get it and does it do what everyone is saying makes the car run better and better throttle response and MPG and so forth.

General Discussion Area / Salt Got to The Paint Work
« on: 16 April 2007, 09:24:58 »
After Having My MOT done I decided to give my Car a good old Polish as it was nice and sunny on Saturday.

Any How I came across some Rush Bubbles on the one on Near side front door and 3 on the near side Passenger door.

I do park on a busy main road and i think its been chipped from the side and when it sat for about a month odd over xmas when she was knacked i think the salt has gotten in Grrrrrr

Looks like ill have to rub the areas down treat the rush bubble problem areas and respray them.

What an Arse. I think ill wait till its more summer time and tackle it then as the rust bubbles will just grow and grow.

Should not be a to hard Job as Years ago I used to work as a Resprayer and Touch Upper Just not looking forward to matching the paint if i remember silver does not fade so bad in the sun and matching the paint will not be toooo hard.

Lucky I spotted them Early as the are only small at the mo

General Discussion Area / Just Had MoT......
« on: 14 April 2007, 12:27:12 »
And She Flew Through it.  :D :D

The guy who did the mot was great let me go in his pit and have a look at the underside of the car pointed out places to keep an eye on in years to come.

I am really Surprised i thought she would fail on a couple of things but nope stright through.

May be i am being to picky when driving her i keep thinking the wish bones need replacing which i might still do as she pulls left and i have new wishbones sat in the basement.

One thing I am bit iffy on was the Emissions test i left the car on LPG and the Guy said the emissions where Really High is this normal as he had not set his computer for LPG, I flicked it over to Petrol And He said the emissions were spot on.

I though with it being on GAS when he tested it with his computer set to petrol Mode the Emissions would be Near on Zero not High.

General Discussion Area / Dreaded MoT Tomorrow
« on: 13 April 2007, 11:48:19 »
Well its MoT Time for the first time with my Omega and for some reason I am not looking forward to it, Had loads of old bangers in the past that have flown through MoT's and i have never been bothered just drop off car pick it up with a new MoT but I am Dreading Mine Tomorrow.

I know the Rear Shocks need replacing as they are Weeping alittle and it will fail on those, so ill just clean them up in the morning and replace them at pay day at the end of the month.

Quick Question For the LPG buffs out there, Do you run your car on Gas For its MOT or make sure its on Petrol ?

« on: 10 April 2007, 12:04:53 »
Hiya Chaps I have alittle time on my hands and i thought since i am a 3D Artist Who Builds Cars, I would have a go at a Facelift Omega.

I am looking for Line Drawings/BluePrints of the Omega so i can use them as a template in my 3D package.

I have found some but they are alittle naff and there is no top view which i do need.

This is the kind of thing I am looking for.

Thanks

Lucky for me i was just browsing Ebay today and came across the nearside wing mirror glass i have been looking for, for my facelift,

only 15 quid for the mirror sounds alot but the glass does cost about 45 or 50 quid from Vx and you cant find just the mirror glass in a scrappy so i am kinda pleased  :)
