Had a strange one today, set off this morning, turned the lights on and a couple of minutes into the journey there is a pop and the classic smell of a electronic component being fried.

Anyway, checked headlights - all ok, just loss of dashboard illumination.

Managed to get 10 mins at lunchtime and dissected the light switch to find that what appears to be a 5v or similar regulator missing a rather large chunk  ::) , no fuses blown in the fusebox so clearly nothing else affected.

Swapped switch over with another one tonight and dashboard illumination restored. Will see what happens tomorrow.

Has anyone had this happen on their car?

Omega General Help / Steering Wheel Compatibility
« on: 19 June 2014, 21:32:58 »
I appreciate that Vectra B four spoke steering wheels are physically the same as the Omega B steering wheels but are the early Vectra C (Non-CAN with the three buttons either side) physically and electrically compatible?

I appreciate the Airbag will also need to be transplanted as well so the same question applies as well!

Omega General Help / Coolant pipe - Non Aux Coolant Pump
« on: 04 June 2014, 19:22:21 »
Would anybody happen to know the part number for the coolant pipe that connects to the bulkhead matrix connection and back to the coolant bridge?

This would be used in V6's without the auxiliary coolant pump - So I guess early cars without Winter Pack or a climate panel maybe?

As per title, looking for the selector surround (the part the selector light panel and winter button clips into).

Needs to be in good condition as replacing one that is scratched and peeling the rubber coating.

Known Faults

Believed failing fuel pump, car will drive normally then revs will drop off when under load, this is an intermittent problem and could be as simple as replacing the fuel filter (one new one supplied)

CCR2006 Head unit – front panel failed – unable to enter code.

No spare wheel – used on my old DTi elite when it was scrapped.

A few minor dents in the body and the obligatory tailgate rust under the wiper arm,

Passenger door car detaching from door top

£180, buyer will need to collect.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bose Amp relocation - Saloon
« on: 11 November 2013, 18:42:36 »
A while back I relocated the Bose amp in my 2.6 Saloon into the side storage compartment (where the First Aid kit should reside).

Since then it's sat in the plastic holder on the door  ::) so really needs to be mounted permanently. I have an estate bracket but was wondering what method others have used to secure the amp in this location?

General Car Chat / Thanks once again to Daz
« on: 19 October 2013, 16:02:32 »
This time rear donut bushes on the 2.6. Amazingly the originals weren't too bad and looking at the date stamp would appear to be GM originals from when the car was built.

As always, a top job done by Daz :y :y

Omega General Help / Front and rear crank seals (V6)
« on: 29 September 2013, 19:09:38 »
Presumably genuine is best?

Notice that Elring do them (but they aren't noted for anything other than there head gaskets on a V6) but does anyone have any experience?

General Car Chat / Repairing plastic bumpers
« on: 19 September 2013, 20:06:03 »
Anyone have any experience of this and can offer some advice?

The issue I have is that I have a bumper with two broken tabs (the large ones that clip to the underside of the car (front bumper) and i'm looking for a way to effect a strong repair. Never done any fibre glassing before but looking on the internet it appears that 3M do various repair solutions.

Omega General Help / Dex II
« on: 18 September 2013, 10:43:09 »
Got to flush and change the power steering fluid in my 2.6 when I change the power steering pump.

Believe any Dex II will do but can't find the GM specs anywhere, also quite hard to find Dex II anywhere i've tried locally....

So does the following meet the spec?
