Omega General Help / oil leak
« on: 15 May 2019, 18:26:00 »
without pinpointing exactly from where it seems that an oil leak is dripping from the rear of the engine n/s. the long bolt that goes upwards from sump to engine has a drip of oil coming off it. if its a rear crank seal or the rear of the  sump gasket both scenarios would be too costly, i guess. but its making a mess of where i have to park.

I am getting emails & popup messages telling me my anti-virus is due & expired today. i was sure that i had renewed it last month, & i had. however to make sure i contacted the company (mcafee) & was told its a marketing company trying to scam me into paying again.

General Car Chat / m.o.t
« on: 08 May 2019, 16:14:58 »
have just had a call from the m.o.t station . my car has failed its test but instead of giving me a fail they have taken it on their selves to do the job which was a brake pipe & tighten the handbrake cable which has stretched some. i either get it back later today or first thing tomorrow. the actual test date is 7th june.  so quite pleased  :y

General Discussion Area / specsavers
« on: 04 May 2019, 13:11:14 »
wife & i recently had eye tests & purchased specs from specsavers. i opted for every day use a pair of varifocals & polaroid single vision sunglasses, & wife a pair of varifocals. when we went to collect my specs were put the lens in the wrong frames. wifey tried hers on & long distant was ok but reading wise she couldnt see anything on the card that they give to read off. in my case i had to wait a week for the lens swap but the wife was told that varifocals needed to be worn & got used too. she,s had throughout the years dozens of pairs & never had problems. on our return i picked up both pairs but re my wifes she explained to them were no good for reading. they messed about for two hours & finally a guy took them did something but fixed them. apparently it was the shape of the lens & originally the varifocal bit was wrong. but i think that type of establishments are more focused on the sell of spectacles

Omega General Help / rear brakes
« on: 10 April 2019, 23:45:03 »
i think it is about 3yrs since i replaced the rear pads so probably require new. regards the handbrake shoes ( which were adjusted last May for the m.o.t ) , they have not been replaced for a few years. i did get lots of receipts of jobs done on the car that go back 11yrs mainly servicing, none for rear brake shoes. contemplating doing them may order a cable too.
