General Discussion Area / sqaure tax disc type holder?
« on: 03 July 2007, 16:15:43 »
Now I have become a working man  :'( -  I will be commuting from Bicester to London, for parking you get a train ticket shaped parking permit.

Anyone know of any sqaure or rectangle type holders to stick to the windscreen? - If i just leave the ticket on the dash it will slide around so want to put it in some kind of holder, any ideas?  :-/

Took the Senator for a blast, first long run since the new exhaust and water pump went on. It gulped a load of water about 5 miles or so, after that stayed the same  :)

More good news is the new zorst is working well, much less engine noise when cold. Picks up better 45 ish to 80 too  :D

It had been raining, so the road was wet, pulling away on a dual carriageway already doing 40mph or so, decided to hit the Sport button and leave that pesky van behind, that was up my ass.

The back end started to wriggle and had some serious loss of traction, I was not accelerating!  ;D -  Backed off the gas, it stopped wriggling side to side, and then managed to pull away. The road was only slightly damp, i must put the Dunlops on the rear, and put the 'Regal Sport's on the front!

did a lot of work on the Senator this weekend, it did need looking at.

Firstly replaced the exhaust, as some will know it was making a groove down the the road when i went on a holiday with some mates, thanks to Hotel21 and the excellent lakes meet I acquired a new cat back system for the 24v at a very reasonable price!

Fitting it went very well, thanks to Jaime for helping me fit it on his driving way. Also thanks to Omegatoy, a quick call to him put some fears at rest. The old system just dropped off, the mid section was for a 12v, and had a 24v back box.

Now with propper cat back 24v on, it feels a lot better. Although lost some of the deep down noise  :(

Also replaced the waterpump!  :D - Again big thanks for the help and much needed advice from omegatoy, great guy thanks!  :y

I also made my own gasket out of gasket paper which was fun, no major leaks yet and seams to be water tight. A long run tomorrow should confirm this.

So its almost ready now, for a someone shortened trip to the land of Europe.

General Discussion Area / no longer a student bum!
« on: 27 June 2007, 19:51:42 »
Well got the official transcript though the post today, confirmed my 2:1 degree in Multimedia Technology & Design BSc, and my 76% (A) for my project  :)

Not bad for someone who was in Special needs at school!!

Well just came back from my second interview with a company called 'Pitch', they are a mobile content company based in Covent Garden, London. On my way back i got offered the job!  :D :D :D

They offered a very attractive salary , very attractive considering I am a graduate. Trouble is they want me to start next week, which puts the brakes on my Europe trip. They offered me 2 weeks paid leave, but thats the max they can do.

So I am in 2 minds:

a) The job on offer is excellent, exactly what i want to do, with an incredible salary. But i means my europe trip can be only 2 weeks max

b) not take the job and go for the full month, maybe month and a half trip around Europe.

My concern is, that this job is too good to miss. Even the recruitment consultant mentioned the starting salary was very high for graduates.

I guess i could pack a lot in 2 weeks, I did: Chicago, LA, Las Vegas, San Fransisco in 2 weeks before.

Bit confused here about what to do  :-/ :-/

General Discussion Area / exhaust rubber mount
« on: 26 June 2007, 22:20:01 »
does anyone have one spare? I managed to nab one of James, but i need 1 more to mount the exhaust for the Senator. (mount is for the centre section so quite small)

Any chance someone has one kicking around on their garage floor i could 'borrow'  ;)

General Discussion Area / another eBay idiot thread!
« on: 21 June 2007, 10:15:43 »
Some of you may know i put my boat on eBay... well it sold for £570  :D :)

But the idiot who won the auction, does not have the means to collect it. I had an e-mail from him 2 days after the auction ended saying he has a BMW 3 series and will it go on roof rails  >:( >:(

He asked me to source a company to transport it for him too, if it would not fit on his car.  >:( >:(

Asked him to call me, and I am going tell him I will re-list it.

Bloody eBay and its time wasting idiots, i need that money!  >:( >:( >:(

General Discussion Area / tunnie wants another 6pot
« on: 30 May 2007, 11:21:47 »
Well since Jaime is away and can't say i told you so!

I am seriously considering selling the 2.2 Omega, taking the Senator to the Lakes, with 45 stone of weight in the car, full boot with camping gear, clothes, beer, tones of tools ect it still averaged 30mpg at 90mph motorway cruise, and over the 750 miles averaged 28mpg.

On a motorway run to my grandma's in Surrey which is around 80 miles, my 2.2 Omega generally averages 31-34. If i had done the same run to the Lakes in my Omega, i bet it would have been the same on MPG, no better!

Up some hills in the lakes, 1,500 rpm up a 17% incline the Senator pulled like a train.

I want a V6 Omega Elite.

Should I:

A) Sell my Omega now before i go to Europe, then look for a V6 Elite when i get back in mid September and keep the Senator until i find a V6 Elite.

B) Keep the Omega till i come back, then sell both and hunt for V6..

C) Do nothing keep the 2.2

I really want to go to the lakes now, as I want to get the new 24v exhaust on.

Does anyone want to share a ride up in my Senator? - I'd like to go but the 500 odd mile round trip, is going to be costly in fuel on my own, since i just did a trip there with friends last weekend....

1407
How low should it normally be, mine has a 'bodged' on mid section from the 12v, and a back box from a 24v.

With no weight in the car, i can barley get my fist in between the zorst and the road. ( and thats my gadget hands! )

I have been very kindly offered cat back 24v System off Hotel21  :y - This should make a massive difference to the exhaust height?? - Its either that or new taller harder springs.

Pictures of what it looks like now (with no weight in the car):

Btw, can we change and exhaust at the lakes?  :-/

General Discussion Area / Keswick - Springs?
« on: 29 May 2007, 22:49:50 »
As per my other post I need new springs on the Senator, fully laden, the exhaust grinds the road  :(

I am thinking Omega V6 Estate springs to raise the back end just a bit, does anyone have some V6 Estate springs?

Got a pair of good saloon springs to exchange....

Also can spring work be done at Keswick? Seen it done by the master that is Mark... i don't want to attempt this job with my mickey mouse tool set.

General Discussion Area / tunnie is back from the Lakes
« on: 29 May 2007, 22:46:10 »
had good weather too, unlike back home it seams. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday saw the best weather, very hot on Monday, m8 even got sun burnt!  :o

Climbed Scafell pike, generally had a good time drunk loads of beer  :D

How did the Senator run? Well engine wise like a dream, 90+ cruise. 2 hours of stop start M6 traffic on the haul up, 15 mile strech at 100ish on the M6 Toll (i was keeping with the flow!!!)

Lots of heavy hill driving for several days in the Lakes.... over 750 miles the Senny averaged 28mpg.

With 45 stone of body weight, and VERY full boot, plus loads of beer, food and camping gear very impressed. On the run up until we reached the lake it averaged 30.4 mpg.

Bad news is the i need new springs!  :( -  With 45 stone of body weight in the car (a m8 is a big lad at 20 stone) and the full boot... at speed with the back bouncing, the exhaust hit the road... and grinded it down quite a bit.

Was a horrible sound, and the trip has filed it down a bit, with no gear in, but with my m8 in, it only did it once or twice, so i need to raise the back end....

I am thinking Omega V6 Estate Springs? - The Senator had odd springs before, maybe thinking that was the reason.

Few piccys * note for James, this campsite allows open fires and dog friendly  :y:
