General Car Chat / Some girls are just never happy
« on: 14 February 2014, 14:24:19 »
Just gave the old girl a bit of a winter clean and check the low washer level warning that came on with swmbo last night.

I knew the level was fine as I had topped it up on Wednesday.

Switch is u/s  :'(  Checked the switch and it aint switching

Bridging the connector clears the warning so it looks like a new switch

Any point of getting one from a breakers or are they cheap enough new?

General Discussion Area / Are you one of the one in four
« on: 12 February 2014, 11:19:18 »
Seeing as how Queens greatest hits has passed the six million sales mark, statistics indicate that one in four homes has a copy.

I liked them in my youth but have gone off them now, been well over used on tv and radio quiz shows etc in the past

If you could have one of these all expenses looked after by a rich uncle which would it be?

For me it would have to be either the Integrale or RS200. Either of those beasts would make me a very happy bunny

Drove the Inter but missed out on the RS.  You never know what the future holds though ;D

My lottery win for instance (providing it is the high numbers will be a blur of fast cars and even faster women)  ;D ;D

I know I said one  but I started the thread so I am allowed to be greedy ;D ;D ;D

General Discussion Area / Do you back up or wing it
« on: 06 February 2014, 18:55:30 »
Well do you back up all your precious porn data or do you fly by the seat of your tighty whiteys?

This Thursday (a few days from now) I will do my annual back up to 387 5.25'' well floppy discs

Have to keep those pics of Methuselah for posterity or is it posterior? oh arse I can never remember ;D ;D

Just heard that William Roache has been cleared of all charges

Will this clear his name or will there still be a culture of  'No smoke without fire'

I have mixed feelings about these prosecutions,  alleged victims should be able to bring it to court  but also people should be seen as not guilty when and if they are found not guilty

Cynical old me just sees this as an attempt to make a bit of money from the press etc

Edit

The crying in the title is because he is as hammy as a load of piggy wiggys  ;D

General Discussion Area / Poor old Sony
« on: 06 February 2014, 10:24:38 »
Just heard that Sony are to stop making pc's and laptops as the Vaio range is losing them money, they are going to concentrate on Tablets etc

I always thought of the Vaio range was made for yuppie types and pretentious wannabees

At this point I would like to confess to having once bought a Vaio laptop :'( :'( :'(  That truly was a really cathartic experience ;D

I have never felt so relieved even taking into account admitting to being an ageing drug taking alcofrolic ;D

I wonder what if anything they will dump next, The mini disc lost official support recently if I remember correctly

An old colleague and I mean old as in he was the cabin boy on Noah's Ark ;D still uses a minidisc in his car, they will no doubt have to prise it from his corpse when he decides to shuffle off this mortal coil ;D

General Car Chat / Simpler days
« on: 05 February 2014, 19:39:54 »
Sitting here enjoying a few well earned snifters and thinking about days gone by with regard to car maintenance

As much as I like the innovations of modern motoring ie ABS, traction control, air con etc I often wish it was like the 'good old days' when you were changing points and plugs every 6000 miles, diagnosing an intermittent misfire by either watching your ht leads in the dark looking for tracking or if you were a snob using a Gunsons strobe light and of course the luxury of actually being able to work in an engine bay without feeling you were a gynaecologist  working on the Enterprise :)

I have many happy memories of rear wheel drive cars trying to put you in a ditch if you drove a little too spiritedly

On the whole I like modern cars, I just don't like the fact that they can be so bloody expensive/awkward and downright difficult to pin point a fault especially an intermittent one :'(

What would you good God fearing folks be drinking on a school night?

Just wondering as this degenerate is working on the demolition of a very nice ruby port ;D

Port you say? that's an old mans drink :)

Yip, the cap does fit rather too well, I'll be driving an Omega next.................................Oh wait ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
