Omega General Help / eml at high speeds

Hi,

I have been looking at buying another omega. It is a good price on a 1996 3ltr elite.
The owner says that the eml (engine management light)  comes on intermittently at 70 mph.
Does anyone have any ideas of the cause of this? Is it a serious problem?

i have lpg fitted, so fuel related mods are not much good

also, i have limited funds at the moment, so the cheaper the better ideally!!!

Omega General Help / mystery leak.....

Hi guys,

I have a leak on my 2.5V6. The HBV and oil cooler have both been replaced already.
It is losing around 1 litre every 2 days.  With the car on a ramp, coolant can be seen dripping from the area just to the right of where the passenger side front pipes bolt to the manifold.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is leaking?
Is it a core plug in that area?

Omega General Help / coolant bridge - a problem....

Decided to replace oil cooler today....

All was going well until I tried to remove the coolant bridge.....one of the bolts snapped off.....

Can anyone suggest a way of removing the rest of the bolt, and the best place to get a replacement bolt....

To me, this suggests either the HBV (Heater Bypass Valve) itself, or the matrix/piping to matrix.
The HBV closes when the heaters are set to cold, cutting off the water supply to the matrix. So the problem is somewhere HBV onwards.....

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will confirm.....

Omega General Help / heater problem/leak

Hi guys,

The heater has started taking a very long time to get hot, even when set to `hi`
I'm thinking it could possibly be the thermostat stuck open???

Also, there is a leak from the back of the engine (it's about a litre every 2 days now...) , which I think may be the HBV (again!) - or are there any other possibilities from that area?

All ideas appreciated...

Omega General Help / Wheel wobble......

Hi guys,

My car has a front wheel wobble at around 45/55mph.

So far, I have done the following:

1.  Had the balancing checked and re-checked
2.  Replaced both front wishbones
3.  Replaced both front drop-links
4.  Replaced both front track rod assembies
5.  Replaced both front tyres
6.  Replaced front discs/pads
7.  Balancing done yet again........

After all this, the problem is still there.....!

Does anyone have any more ideas to try.... :-/

Omega General Help / LPG question....

Hi all,

I have a Zavoli lpg system fitted to my 2.5V6. It was fitted about 2yrs ago now.

The problem now is that the switchover to gas seems to happen too soon from cold now, causing a second or two of hesitation before clearing.

Does anyone know what I should be looking at to solve this. Is there some sort of temperature sensor fitted somewhere.
I will try and post some pics of the system tomorrow too, but if anyone has any ideas.....

i have replaced the ones on my omega twice in 12 months now

the vx ones are way overpriced, unless they have put them back on TC...??

Omega General Help / best suspension

hi guys
in your opinions, what was the best suspension set up (as in best ride/handling compromise) fitted as standard on the omega estates.
i have previously lowered my car without much success - car always too low, and catching exhaust on speed bumps
also, will facelift suspension parts fit my 1999 car?

Omega General Help / lpg questions

does anyone on here know about lpg systems?

I have 2 problems:

1.  During changeover to gas, the car now pauses considerably. It used to only feel like an auto `box change. It now seems to hold back for a couple of seconds as it changes fuels.
2.  The lpg guage no longer works. Is there an eay way to free off the `sensor` at all? It shows full all the time, as if it is stuck.

The system is a multipoint zavoli if that helps.....

i presume it can only read the codes, not update the autobox software/remove fault codes from the system

Omega General Help / interior leak...

this morning, i found that the carpet is damp on the front passengers side
it is mostly damp near the outer edge (nr. door), but only the flat part of the carpet

could this be caused by the pass. side scuttle drain being blocked?

Omega General Help / V6 stalling/poor running

hello guys

this problem started two days ago and is now getting worse

at first the car started to run badly at idle speed
then the problem went as quickly as it had appeared

then it came back again!  when it happens, sometimes it stalls. then i restart it. it stalls....restart....stalls....
also, it seems there is a lack of power as you pull away. the revs take a while to pick up, then it seems flat for a bit, under 3000 revs

any ideas on where to start looking would be very much appreciated!
