Omega General Help / Manual Clutch
« on: 24 November 2019, 14:51:07 »
After my 3.0L manual has been off the road for a year, i’ve Changed the engine, fitted a new clutch plate and slave cylinder. I have bleed the brakes today as I fitted new pipes. Brakes bleed fine, but can’t get clutch to bleed. I used a easy bleed kit, when I open the bleed nipple I just get air out, was going to manually pump it but pedal goes to floor (obviously as there is no fluid in system) any ideas, as the brake and clutch are the same reservoir it seams the fluid isn’t getting into the system. Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Brake bleed - ABS
« on: 11 November 2019, 09:05:55 »
I have just changed most of the brake pipes on my MV6 3.0L. and now need to bleed the system. when I look in the Manual it list the 3 & 4 Channel ABS bleeding sequence which are different. My car is a 98 which is when they changed, it has TC and has 4 pipes coming out of the Bosch unit but how can I tell if it is a 3 or 4 channel unit? and any tips on bleeding the system?

Omega General Help / Secondary Air Pump
« on: 01 March 2016, 08:46:56 »
I have had a the engine management light on for a while on my 3.0 MV6. I got round to doing a paperclip test last night and it came up with - Idle Air Control voltage low, which I will just change the Idle Air valve as I have one.
The other fault was Secondary Air Pump voltage low - I disconnected this about 3 years ago as it use to run on when I stopped the car, any ideas what this fault could be caused by? should I get another pump and re-connect?
Even if I fix the faults do I now need to have the car reset to clear the codes and turn the light off?

Omega General Help / Battery drain/engine management light
« on: 31 January 2016, 13:30:50 »
Hope someone can help with this, my 1998 MV6 has not been used much in the last 3 months. went to use it about 2 weeks ago and the battery was flat, so charged it up and it started no problem. The next day went to use and it was flat again, so used another battery next day flat,  I have checked the boot lamp and interior mirror lamps all aren't on, so suspect and alternator or the alarm sounder. I have started the car and disconnect the earth wire and reconnected 3 days later and the car starts straight away so the battery seems to be ok but the car is draining it quickly.
Now when the car starts after 2-3 mins of running the engine management light comes on and flickers, any ideas? I will do a paperclip test on it but I suspect the alternator, would a faulty alternator cause the engine Management light to come on?

Omega General Help / MV6 noisy dash (A/C)
« on: 22 September 2015, 13:49:09 »
I have a MV6 with A/C that has never worked (heater is ok) the car has been fine but about a year ago when you first started it you get a ticking noise coming from the center of the dash, this goes away when you drive it after about 2-3 Mins. There is no noise in the engine bay as I've started the car with the bonnet open and it is from the dash area. The car has not been used much in the last 2 months, and it seams worse now on start up and lasts longer.
Searching on forums some opels have similar issues caused by the A/C flaps and you can apparently reset them.
Has anyone else had this problem or knows what it is?

Omega General Help / mv6 cutting out
« on: 21 December 2013, 20:28:19 »
I have a 1999 MV6 and today it was running fine when suddenly while driving it cut out for a second then instantly restarted again, this happened several times on a 10 mile journey. When I came to restart after 3 hours it wouldn't start at first after several attempts it started after I had fiddled with the fuse box and ECU. I drove for a couple of miles with it cutting out then it cut out and stopped.

After a while it restarted and has ran fine ever since but it is obviously faulty, now the rev counter is erratic so I suspect it is an ECU problem, I will do a paperclip test tomorrow to see what code it gives me but any advice would be appreciated.

Omega General Help / MV6 Exhaust Manifold Leak
« on: 05 May 2013, 10:14:01 »
The RH Exhaust manifold is blowing on my 3.0L MV6, can't see if it is cracked or the gasket. at first I thought it was the Manifold to exhaust joint but that is ok. Can't anyone tell me how hard a job it is to remove the manifold to replace the gasket, I have read the studs can snap and there is the access issue. any tips would be appreciated.

Omega General Help / MV6 ignition
« on: 29 December 2012, 12:46:03 »
I have just went to use my car and the ignition has gone, the key turns but engine will not turn over when I remove the key the dash lights are still all on and the key spins freely no notch between positions. obviously I will need a new ignition barrel.

The car is a 98 3.0L MV6 if I get a new barrel and key off Ebay is the transponder in the lower part of the key? which will mean have to get new keys programmed, or do I need new barrel, key, transponder and ECU? any advice of the easiest fix will be appreciated.

Omega General Help / Clutch Problem
« on: 25 November 2012, 23:11:46 »
While driving my MV6 1998 manual on Saturday I felt something brake while pressing the clutch pedal, this resulted in the pedal feeling spongy with no bite. I could still drive the car just but the pedal now has no feel and the clutch is slipping when reved.
I have jacked up the car and there are no fluid leaks, the pedal and clutch cylinder are ok the fluid level is correct so I am confused as what could have happened, I can only think part of the clutch plate has broken or the slave cylinder.
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

Omega General Help / MV6 Clutch issues
« on: 24 November 2012, 13:10:36 »
Can anyone help, I was just driving my 98 MV6 (3.0L) manual when I changed gear I felt some go (like a cable had snapped) but with it being hydraulic this obviously isn't the case, the pedal then felt strange light and not working correctly. I can pull away and change gear but the clutch is now slipping when I rev the car.

I have managed to get it home but will need to remove the box to sort it. is this some thing anyone else has had? I figured it might br the slave cylinder gone but would that cause the clutch to slip.

Thanks
Craig

Omega General Help / Omega MV6 Engine swap problems
« on: 04 March 2010, 19:48:24 »
I asked for some advice several days ago on the problems I have had after an engine swap in my 1998 MV6. As I said it runs but won't tick over (mis-fires and splutters at low speed) but sounds ok above 1500-2000 rpm. I was advised it could be the plug leads incorrect which are ok on the engine but as I carried over my DIS pack with leads attached I assume they are ok, do the order vary between models? The order is different to the diagrams sent to me but my DIS is different as it is horizontally mounted with the plug on the top, I assume that it is marked with the correct cylinder numbers which I will have to remove it next to check on the order of the leads.
I had some problems with the crank position sensor having a different plug lead to my loom so I swapped it from the old engine and when I diconnect the sensor the engine will not start which to me implys the sensor most be working.
I was advised to blank off the EGR valve as it could be that but that made no difference. I have checked the VAC pipes and wiring and it all seams to be correct so any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am totally baffled.

Omega General Help / Engine not running correctly after refit.
« on: 01 March 2010, 14:45:34 »
I have just changed the engine on my 98 MV6 and can't get it to run correctly, it won't tick over and will run if you keep it above 1500 rpm slightly lumpy. all the sensors seamed to go back together ok but I can't find anything obvious I have done wrong, the engine warning lamp on the dash goes out so look as if the wiring is correct. any ideals would be a great help.

Omega General Help / MV6 Clutch hose clip
« on: 17 February 2010, 23:51:10 »
After fitting a new engine to my MV6 with manual gearbox I have fitted the clutch flexi hose back into the connector on the bulkhead but when trying to fit the 'U' clip back in I am finding it impossible. The pipe seams to be fully home and I can fit the clip in most of the way but it will not sit fully in any advice? have messed something up with the hose? Itryed a new clip but will not go in.
