Newbie Welcome Area / Hello from Newcastle
« on: 06 February 2010, 15:42:51 »
Ive just come back to vauxhall after a brief spell away with some french hot hatchery and a ford cougar. Needed a big 4 door due to my wife due to sprout our second child in june and the cougar just wasnt practical enough.

Ended up with an 2000 Facelift LPG converted 2.5 Auto CDX in silver. Picked it up for a reasonable £1450 from an old guy who gave it anything it needed and sometimes things it didnt.

Picked it up this morning and managed to flatten the battery already messing on with radio and leccy sunroof.

The only fault i can find is the radio which has been decoded sometimes wont switch on, meaning you have to pull out a yellow fuse which reboots everything on the dash.

I need a cigarette lighter for a facelift. Basically I pulled all the wires off mine ( don't ask) and need it from the little multiplug connector possibly including the wood fascia if it can't be split.

Cars for Sale & wanted / 2000 X 2.5 Auto CDX LPG Converted

After a breif ownership im now selling my omega.

Its a 2000 on an X plate (currently swapping my private plate over to my new volvo). Its a 2.5 Auto in CDX trim and has had a BRC sequential LPG gas conversion carried out proffessionaly by the previous owner. Usual spec like electric sunroof, climate, xenons, alloys, heated seats bla bla bla

Its in Silver colour, and has covere 107K miles. It has 6 months tax and october MOT. FULL stamped service history right up the last service at 96K last year

It also has a dual electric towbar fitted as the previous owner used to tow his small two berth caravan with it around the local campsites.

I bought it two months ago as a stop gap between losing my company car and getting a replacement, hence the purchase of a new volvo S40.

The previous owner was a retired gentleman who had owned it since buying it 2nd hand from a vauxhall dealer 5 years ago. Aparantly it was a rare find as it was 5 years old but in such good condition they put a network Q warranty on it.

he was the type of owner who gave it everything it needed. eg iridum spark plugs as it suited the gas conversion better. Its running on Michelin tyres, not cheap japanese things etc etc. Its also had special towing shocks fitted at the rear where you pump them up etc. (dont ask me  :-/)

Since i got it, every common fault seems to have developed so ive spent a small fortune on it.

Its had;
New Dis Pack
New plug leads
New Water Pump
New LPG gas regulator
New LPG gas solenoid
Replacement ABS ECU
New Head DVD head unit (the CCR packed up)

All the above cost me just over £700  :-[

The LPG conversion was carried out 4 years ago, proffessionaly by an approved installer and i have the certifcate to pass to your insurance company if needed.

It now drives faultess and in all honesty i much prefer driving it than my new S40.

It does have a few faults though;
The Airbag light is on. This was diagnosed as 'drivers side squib' and aparantly a cheap fix if you can find one.

There is a little corrosion on the drivers side rear door.

There seems to be a rattle from the rear back corner. Doesnt sound structral or affecting the car in anyway, but god damn i cant find what it is. It passed its MOT (no advisories) with it so it cant be anything major.

Its realtively clean for a 10 year old and only just last week got its first car park ding on the rear passenger door  >:( Other than the corrosion and the ding its brilliant.

all the electrics work, heated seats work fine, sunroof works fine etc etc.

as its on LPG it only costs 57p a litre to fill it up so while its priced a little more than an equivlant omega the LPG makes up for it (it was the reason i bought it in the first place)

Im looking for £1500 or very close offer. i actually paid a little more than that two months ago and have spent £700 so im certainly not getting my money back  :'(

hi.

thanks for the interest. To answer your questions

Ownership of the car - I actually stole it a few weeks ago. Ive put different plates on it so it all looks fine and you wouldnt even notice

Milage of the car - It did have 170K but ive had it clocked so now it reads just 57K, quite low for a car this age

Working condition - being honest, i wouldnt drive it myself. When we welded the two halfs together we didnt do a very good job and it may split in two if you drive too fast.

asking price - Normally they sell for £1200 but im going to ask £3000 as ive spent a bit of time on it with the welder and getting the clocks fiddled to make it look ok

Location of the car. Its in my lock up. I can bring it to a car park or some other place where it wont get a lot of attention. I dont want to attract the police.

Pic of the car - havent got one. I used a pic i found on the net for the advert. It looks just like the pic in the advert only not as good condition and it does sag in the middle a little as we didnt weld it too good.

Hope that helps. Would be great if i could shift this peice of junk to a scammer like yourself.

Hello,
Thanks for the details of the car given and its been nice to read from you. I will like you to know that your car is the type of car i have been searching to buy for my client and i will be so happy to buy the car from you. I have just forwarded the car details to my client and he is highly interested to buy the car from you and he is ready to pay the amount you requested for. I will like you to know that the only payment method my client can afford on this transaction is only by international certified bank draft or check which will be very easy for you to cash between 4 to 5 working days in your bank, i would have also love to transfer the money to your bank account but i don't know who you really are, and people on internet are so funny cause i have already been a victim of internet fraud once. So i will like you to know that paying by check or banker's draft is more safer for us on this transaction. I will advise you on how to proceed with the shipping of the car after you have received and cashed the check or the bankers draft in your bank. So please, i will like you to kindly get back to me with the following information for the payment below:-

NAME ON THE CHECK??

FULL CONTACT ADDRESS TO INCLUDE ZIP CODE:

TEL NUMBER??

kindly get back to me with this details ASAP, so i can quickly get it forward to my client and he can quickly issue and send you the payment. I will also like you to get the car advert off the internet website and consider it been sold to me because am ready to buy from you...

Have a wonderful day

General Car Chat / New purchases

How can a car being a totally reliable old bus for the previous old couple owner then start developing all the common faults after a few weeks of new ownership.

My CDx was bought from a dear old bloke who only sold it as his son had bought them a freelander as a suprise gift. Totally trust him. He was even cocerned about making sure I know the glovebox button had broke.

I knew a problem with radio code as needing to pull fuse out to reset buts that's all.

In three weeks the radio had flattened the duff battery overnight for no reason. New radio and new battery and all well. Then climate kept blowing a fuse. That stopped doing it after radio was replaced. Then the slight knock fro rear is driving me nuts, turns out to be rear shocker ( special ones for towing) is knocking within itself. Not a problem just annoying. Then the abs ecu pump has thrown a fit. Nearly forgot about the ns front xenon level arm needing reducing back to body.

Surely I can't be such a car abuser? All the faults appeared after a week of perfect ownwership.

Maybe it's just getting driven properly now?
