Cars for Sale & wanted / F/S 3.2 manual estate

OK - so I've decided to sell this just because I've not got the time to do anything with it.

03-plate ex-plod 3.2 manual estate, retro-fitted with MV6 leather and Alloy wheels.

It needs a replacement tailgate and rear bumper after an altercation with a money-box in a car park. Both included.

Very few miles since the last MOT.

You'll need to come up with at least £800

Right, so I've got two cars here and some time - I'm intending to get to the bottom of this 3-litre cams thing. I'll do a couple of dyno runs per vehicle in just about the same conditions as I can manage

2.6 manual. Standard configuration and then swapped for which cams ?

3.0 manual. Standard and then which cams ?

Ok then, the 3.2 is rumoured to be fitted with a forged crank ( although I've never stripped one to check ).

Does the 2.6 also have forged crank ?

A few weeks ago I fitted cruise control to the MV6. Admittedly only because I had it.

.....and now I've gone and bought a diesel - ok, it's a Discovery TD5 for the missus, but it's a diesel all the same.

Am I getting old, or what !

I'm just stripping an Elite at the moment - it's got a 6-channel stereo almost exactly identical to the Bose in layout, but is made by Philips.

having not seen one of these before, can someone fill me in as to its main details - such as does it work to the same low line-level as Bose, or is it normal.

I'm intending to uplift the whole setup into a fecelift car, thus avoiding having to find a Bose-compatible stereo for it.

OK, so this ex-plod I've bought has come with no stereo. I want to add one, but don't know what to ask for.

Recommendations please :-

It must have been fitted to a Vauxhall as original fitment
It must fit in the standard hole
it must plug into the standard loom with the "3-deck" connector
It must have a cd player
It must NOT have sat-nav or telephone functionality

I'm sure someone around here will be able to post that what I want is a "CDR2002" or something like that ?

Just to get this right....

I've got a 52-plate 2.6 MV6 manual and an 03-plate 3.2 MV6 manual. Both facelift cars with the smaller-profile engine ECU.

if I wanted to put the 3.2 engine in the 2.6 car, I need to change the ECU and the immobiliser box hanging from the bottom of the ignition key housing, and then change the chips over in the keys.

is that it ? - will it run afterwards without Tech-2 intervention for example ?

A funny thing happened last night....

I've got this car that I've been working on, amongst other things, the transmission has been replaced, but it's had engine work, too.

I started it last night and had it running for an hour or two, with downpipes only and no exhaust.

Now, despite it not having either lambda sensor fitted, the EML didn't come on - does anyone have experience of this ?

best I can come up with is that either :-

lambda sensing isn't part of the set-up routing for a period of time ( unlikely )

or lambda sensor isn't part of the set-up routine for a certain distance

or EML is overriden for a certain distance.

N.B. EML does work at start-up, so bulb isn't blown.
