I have the log book present in my name which states this vehicle has 3 former keepers it also shows that this vehicle was first registered in May 2002.
I am led to believe that the first of the former keepers was a Vauxhall dealership.
It has tax until the end of September and M.O.T. until 16th November both 2012.
Due to me being a Motor Trader I can offer insured testdrives providing you show evidence of full U.K. driving licence.
It has just clocked up 170,000 miles.

As far as I can gather it is totally standard and as it left the factory, apart from the addition of a Nokia CK-7W hands free kit which links with any mobile phone that has blue tooth, and a Haman/Kardon drive+play system which allows you to listen to music stored on any ipod or iphone via the cars Bose audio system.
The only addition I have made is the Irmscher exhaust.
It is equipped with nearly everything an Elite model has apart from the memory function seats and mirrors. Oh and no heated rear seats either.

The car benefits from, amongst other things:-
Reverse parking sensors.
Electric rear blind.
Autodim rear view mirror
NCDC2013 colour satnav with 2007/2008 disc.
Bose audio upgrade.
Cruise control.
Chilled glovebox.
Auxiliary heating system.
Heated front seats.
Active headrestraints.
Xenon lights.

All interior controls are working as expected with no broken or damaged components, only quite minor wear, as shown in the pictures.

I have the battery 'bag' just not refitted after alternator escapade!

Car comes with two keys and car pass etc.

I tend not to attach too much importance to service history on a vehicle of this age, more relevant is the current condition of the car, in my opinion.

More pictures here...
http://s383.photobucket.com/albums/oo273/brikheadphoto/Omega%20Mv6%20Facelift/Mv6%20for%20sale/

The vehicle is 10 years old and has done many many miles, that said it is obvious that the car has been well looked after.
She drives VERY well and tracks straight and true, the brakes pull you up evenly and she rolls along smoothly and quietly without issue.
No running problems or e.m.l. issues at all.
Very good engine with no noise or oil consumption issues.
Good gear change and clutch feel.

Now the not so good bits.

I've had the air-con regassed but it has a leak from the filling valve, I will provide a replacement, hopefully even find time to fit it.
The brake pedal and hand brake travel is longer than I'd like, all work more than adequately so I may be being fussy but I'd like to flush through the old fluid and adjust the handbrake, if I find the time.
Body work needs attention due to the odd scratch, stone chip, etc.
I'd rather leave this for the next owner to deal with properly rather than try to conceal it 'on the cheap'.
The surface rust is not too bad but within a few years it will look terrible unless sorted soon, have a look at the pictures....

The car is located in Wolverhampton.

Omega General Help / Cat codes on dbw v6.
« on: 30 May 2012, 23:39:42 »
I noticed a few weeks ago that the engine management light on my year 2002 2.6 Omega was not coming on with the ignition so I decided to perform the pedal test which revealed three codes.
1. 0650
2. 0430
3. 0420
I know from previous experience with a 2.6 Vectra that the catalytic converter codes are common and don't necessarily point to a serious problem with these engines, indeed on the Omega it seems usual to move the lambdas to 'fix' the fault.

Today I had cause to remove the dash clocks so thought I may as well replace the e.m.l. bulb (and fix 0650 fault code) whilst I was there.
Now the e.m.l. seems to be performing normally and goes out after a few seconds when the ignition is turned on.

Now to my questions, is it possible that having the battery disconnected for a few hours has cleared the cat fault codes, or is there another reason why they are no longer causing a problem?
Also what causes those fault codes in the first place?

Thank's in advance...

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Flat battery.
« on: 30 May 2012, 17:11:54 »
I've just broken down due to a flat battery.
I've swapped over batteries to get the car home and noticed no battery light illuminated on the dash.

Is there a fuse or relay to check before I take the dash out to check for a blown bulb?

thank's in advance,
Rich.

Omega Gallery / Mi Amigo
« on: 09 May 2012, 23:01:10 »
Heres a few pictures of my car, one of a pair I purchased from fleabay a month ago.

It was purchased at a knock down price due to a "head gasket fault" but when I arrived down in Kent to collect the vehicle the chap who was selling it
mentioned that he thought a coolant pipe had split on the back of the engine, he even mentioned it was connected to a valve for the heater matrix and he
said he had cut the pipe to repair the split and reconnected it, but it was still using coolant and steaming from under the bonnet. Plus I noticed that
the windscreen and side windows would steam up quite badly if the windows were shut. Also there was quite a bad build up of emulsified oil and water in
the oil filler tube so I reckon these three things led the previous owner to the conclusion there were serious issues with the cooling system.
The car drove back from Kent without issue and we stopped once en-route to check the coolant level but it hadnt dropped at all, I discovered over the next few
days that the leak only seemed to happen whilst the engine was warming up and once the engine was up to temperature the leak stopped. As soon as I had the time
I stripped down the scuttle to access the h.b.v. the pipe that had been repaired still looked sound and I was expecting to see some sort of residue from the
coolant leak either a white crystal formation or possibly rusty water marks but everything looked fine. I disconnected the pipes from the h.b.v. and pulled it
out for a closer look...

...you can just make out that the casing is split where the lower pipe attaches.
I also discovered why the interior was so prone to misting up, the pollen filter was clogged.

My local Vauxhall Dealer charged £40.18 inclusive for the by-pass valve (90566947) and £13.28 for the pollen filter (93165208).

Another issue I noticed with the car was the brakes, although they did manage to pull the car up to a halt quickly the pedal travel was excessive,
also there was no feel to the pedal either. I didn't really think there was too much of a problem with them for the first three weeks that I had the car
but looking back now I realize that that was due to the weather, it had rained virtually every day since I had got the car and that meant lots of opportunity
to perfect my 'low speed vehicle handling techniques', but as soon as the rain stoped then the drier road conditions allowed for slightly higher speeds which
showed up a minor problem. The brakes stopped working if you used them hard more than three times in a row! I checked the brake fluid and it was just a little
below the maximum mark but it was virtually black in colour, obviously in need of a flush. I do have an 'eezi bleed' kit but it's quite old and when I connected
it up for a dry run it became apparent that some of the pipework had perished so I had to resort to just a quick bleed, rather than a full flush, even so I
managed to get 1/2 a litre of fresh dot 4 in and that seems to have fixed the brake fade issue. Pedal travel and feel have also improved greatly but I still intend
to fully flush out the system once I've found some tubing to refurb my eezi bleed.

The only other problems I've noticed with the car is there seems to be a.t.f. resting on the upper lip of the sump tray, obviously slight seepage in the power steering
system somewhere, and the air-con isn't as cold as it could be. Other than that EVERYTHING works, and this car has a lot of everythings, I won't bore you with a list
but this car has everything an Elite has except for memory seats in the front and heated seats in the rear, oh and no sunroof either. Nice touches are the climate control
system that can supply heat to the cabin without the keys in the ignition, and the chilled glove box that seems to work even when the heaters are on full.

In the month that I've had the vehicle I've added an extra 1850 miles to the 167,000 that were already showing, in fact I've done 943 miles just this last week,
including a trip to Ireland to collect a friends new Subaru and a trip to Wales to see family. The car has used 169 litres of fuel
to do the 943 miles which works out at £250 (£1.48 per litre) or 25 m.p.g. Not too bad considering the way in which it gets (ab)used!

Apparently the car was owned by a Vx. dealership in Cambridgeshire for the first six months of it's life and I am only the fourth owner (3 former keepers) on the
log book, you can tell the vehicle has been well cared for and this is backed up by the extensive service history, it even has every tax disc ever put on the vehicle
from new! The car is an absolute joy to drive and you could easily believe it had done only 70,000 miles, not nearer to 170,000! Interior wear is also minimal but I am considering changing over the drivers seat from the other Mv6 that I have.

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on this new piece of legislation, it seems it will be an offence to drive a motor vehicle with narcotics in your system, even if you are not 'under the influence' of said substance...

Some details still have to be worked out including which drugs should be included under the legislation and whether a threshold for prosecution should be set for each substance.

Omega General Help / Brake bleeding.
« on: 03 May 2012, 23:22:01 »
I'd like to flush out my braking system to see if it helps with slightly excessive pedal travel, and because the fluid is quite dark and looks very old too.

Is there any particular order that I should be doing it in!?
Normally I'd start at the wheel furthest from the brake servo, which is usually the n/s r, then do the o/s f.
Then I'd move on to the o/s r, finishing off at the n/s f.
Does the Omega have two separate, diagonally split 'circuits', or are they plumbed differently to the way I've been taught?

Thank's in advance...

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / 2001 Mv6 2.6 auto, breaking.
« on: 21 April 2012, 15:22:55 »
2.6 auto, 122,000 miles, Tax till June, M.O.T. till Nov.
Number plate transfer from 'A13 JHF'.
I'm possibly the 3rd. owner (still waiting on v5).
The car rolls along very well, no issues with suspension, brakes, gearbox, steering, etc.
The vehicle was advertised as having a m.a.f. fault when I got it and it does seem a little flat at the top of the rev range how ever no engine light on and I haven't gotten around to investigating the fault.
I have driven it for around 30 miles and she seems a good car and, as yet, no parts have been removed or changed.

I am looking to break this vehicle but if some-one wants to save it from this fate then it is available for sale, £1000 no offers.

It has recent receipts for:-
Overhaul of rear diff in Jan. '07 (£1057)
New power sounder fitted at Vx. at end of '07 (£48 for siren + £59 to diagnose!).

All parts available, here is an example of prices...

Rear diff, £50.
Auto box, ar25/35? £70.
Wheels, £62.50 individually or £200 the set of 4.
Front seats, £150. Rear seats, £50. Door cards, £10 each. Take the lot for £200.

General Car Chat / eBay, a cautionary tale...
« on: 09 April 2012, 10:26:09 »
I've been on the lookout for a 'new' car as the little Peugeot I've been driving around in for the last six months is getting on my nerves! Theres nothing wrong with it apart from it's very small and very basic, in fact it's been a revelation, comfortable, quick and VERY economical. It always starts and has never let me down, just this week it's been on a trip to Wales and then down to Kent to collect it's replacement, around 600 miles...

The 'wishlist' for my new car was a black or other dark coloured Omega with a manual box and a 3.0 engine, not too bothered about spec as long as it has xenon lights and a sunroof. Either saloon or estate (saloons look better but an estate would be handy for my mobile mechanic-ing work) L.P.G. would have been nice but not essential as I have a full kit sitting in the shed which could be installed.

I had a budget of around £500 and began the search for a new car, it wasn't too long before I found myself on eBay and then the problems began. A few hours somehow passed and when I returned to lucidity and checked my eBay summary I see I have TWO new cars!

Trouble is they 'aint black nor do they have the bigger engines....
