General Car Chat / Pug 206 clutch
« on: 25 October 2015, 18:24:44 »
My daughter's boyfriend is currently being recovered back home with his broken Pug 206. the message so far is that the clutch auto adjuster is fubar'd. eBay has loads of cables for around £25/30 .... no idea what the dealers price would be.
Anyone have any experience of changing one? I've a feeling that this job will have my name on it in pencil

Does anyone still keep in touch with Cem? I know Ankara is a big place, but I know that's where he lives.

General Discussion Area / Sutton Bank
« on: 21 September 2015, 18:29:46 »
Anyone live around Sutton Bank Yorkshire? I ask cos we're going that direction at the wek end while towing. The owner of the caravan site specifically said that caravans are banned, but having had a 'drive' via Google maps, I can only see a sign that tells HGVs to use a low gear. Surely if HGVs are allowed, then I am too. I'm sure that 376 torques can manage a little hill with a box on the back.
It's only 1 in 4 for the hairpin https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.2370934,-1.2101813,3a,31.5y,170.1h,77.7t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sK-qtsJ_fChtg1Mf_8TLOMg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 .... what could possibly go wrong!

General Car Chat / oil level hot or cold?
« on: 21 April 2015, 13:18:45 »
Years ago I never particularly bothered if the oil was hot, worm or cold when I checked it ... just made sure the engine had been stopped a little while before dipping it. So why do I now get told that my Merc & Smart needs their oil levels checking when hot? My Merc has been telling me at various time to check the oil level when I next fuel and the level can be anything from the bottom of the dip stick to the top & various in between. Does warm/hot oil these days really expand by such a notable amount?

General Discussion Area / whatsapp video
« on: 30 March 2015, 23:42:41 »
My daughter sent me a video this morning via Whatsapp to show me the noise her car sometimes makes. It only does it after a lay up of a few days but only lasts a minute or so at the most. It's sounds like a dry bearing somewhere ...... but obviously without the car in front of me to look at I can only guess.
I've no idea how to go about loading it from my phone to get it to here via a link for your opinions
