« on: 15 September 2015, 10:29:49 »
Just opened Facebook and this popped into view.......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231682441079?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Seems a reasonable vehicle, but again the one statement is missing...Cambelt !!!
I do feel sorry for the people who get messed about on e-bay, especially when I think of how I conduct myself when buying there. :(

General Discussion Area / Trailer tyre thread
« on: 26 August 2015, 11:50:35 »
Hi all,
I am off to Newent next week, but I need two tyres for the trailer tent. On the side of the trailer is a label that says Max Gross Weight 1980 lbs which equates as about 884 Kgs.
The tyre size is 4.00 - 8 C D5 4pr. I can't seem to find any that fit, weight wise. Most are 250 kg load, which you double for total axle weight.
I have found these tyres on the bay of thieves, with a higher rating. Do you think they will be ok. Not the full loading. The trailer will only be lightly loaded, mainly the canvas and frame. Its a very very old trailer tent...80's job, Erka Chantilly, so can't find any specs. Running short on time now and the linked tyres are next day delivery. Had a blowout on it when towing on the M27 with my Mk1 Senator. Not a pleasant experience.

Thanks in advance

General Discussion Area / A sad find
« on: 22 August 2015, 14:38:00 »
A have just found this link on YouTube. Brought tears to my eyes. He was a flying instructor on Microlytes. He ran Eaglescott Microlytes at Eaglescott airfield near South Molton in Devon. Unfortunately he died 7 years ago this coming October.
May be a bit mushy for you lot, but felt I needed to post...... :(
Its my brother, by the way...

General Car Chat / Old cats
« on: 20 August 2015, 20:07:04 »
Are old cats worth anything, or is it a case of just binning them. When I say old, I mean an old in age cat, which I brought new, for my P reg Laguna estate, about 5 years ago. It never got fitted.

General Discussion Area / Appologies for this query
« on: 18 August 2015, 22:06:17 »
As title, apologising in advance.
You will have to excuse my ignorance on this, which will probably make me look a proper idiot....
However...I was reading a post in the audio section, and it was worded...'a CCRT head unit and 6 cd player in the boot.'
Am I reading this right !!!! ....do you have to load 6 CD's in the boot before you go, and then you are stuck with them till you stop ???

Omega General Help / Air con queries
« on: 15 August 2015, 23:20:11 »
Put the saloon in for air con gas. It cost me £40, car collected and delivered back. He said there was no gas in it, done a pressure test, which he said, held. Filled it with gas and put a dye in. Puzzles me, is why would there not be any gas in it, if the pressure held. Does this stuff 'evaporate' as such.
Have to admit, it is now so cold. I took it for a spin round the block, with settings on low, and I had to turn it off as it froze me to the bone. Is this correct.....never had air con gassed on the estates and they run what I class as 'cool'

General Discussion Area / Nice suprise BT
« on: 07 August 2015, 14:15:00 »
Just had a bill from BT, now charging for BT Sport. Contacted through the chat line to cancel on the 4th August. Contacted today, still not cancelled. They put me through to the packages unit, and I told them that I was withholding the DD until they reduced my bill.
Well....big shock. Still not cancelled (now on voice contact on the phone). However, the lady said she would cancel the BT Sports immediately. Then she said, I can reduce your bill down to £108 a quarter for 12 months.......Whaaat !!!!!!!! (This qtr was £205 including BT Sport)
As I was out of contract, and they wanted to keep me, that was the deal on offer.
It may be more than you people pay, I have never really looked into the small print of other companies, Sky, Virgin, etc. Offers of free for a period of time don't interest me...its what you pay after the offers. In twelve months time, BT will have to chat me up again :y
But as far as I am concerned, £34.33 per month, for Unlimited Infinity, line rental, Caller ID, free Anytime calls, 1571 etc, does not seem a bad deal.
Or am I talking out the top of my head ???

Are there many members who are members on the titled Facebook group. Reading some of the posts, it seems a lot of people have not heard of us. I know a few who are.
They seem to post up some pics of really smart cars. I get the impression that we are more 'status quo' whilst a lot of their members have the 'flashy' jobs

General Discussion Area / New will changes
« on: 28 July 2015, 20:15:36 »
I expect you have seen on the news where a person has been awarded a substantial amount of money from her mother's estate, despite not being named in the will.
Evidently there was a split between her and her mother years ago. So she contested the will and the judge found in her favour.
Sorry, I don't agree with that. What is the point of making a will if it doesn't stand up.
On a similar track, swmbo stands to inherit a substantial amount of money from a relation who died intestate.
Four of our relation will also, by default, each receive a substantial amount, despite the fact they did not know him from Adam.
However, a 'wish list' was found, but is not classed as legal as he never signed it. This list names 8 people who he wanted to have a certain figure. One of those people was swmbo. Also named were some aeronautical charities who would benefit from the residue.
Four people and the charities on the 'wish list' will lose out to the aforementioned people. But we have no right to challenge, and allow the monies to go where the deceased wished.
Before anyone thinks we are on the grab, swmbo will receive the amount her cousin wanted her to have, whether intestate rules or if the 'wish list' was legal.
It seems strange a dead persons wishes are not adhered to.
And, as a footnote, it shows how important it is to make a will  (and make it clear and for what reasons you exclude close family members.)

Hi all....

I have booked the Community Centre at Hazlemere for our Autumn Meet on Saturday October 10th
I know its well in advance, but those wishing to stay at the Papermill Premier Inn can get booked in in advance and hopefully save a few bob. The Pre-Meet meal would obviously have to be the Friday evening.

If you are interested in coming to the meet, please respond.
Easy access from M40, M25, M1, M4, A404, A4, A40.
We are 3 miles from the Papermill Premier Inn, Loudwater. Do not book the Premier Inn in the centre of High Wycombe.

PM me if you have any enquiries about the meet.

Omega General Help / Exhaust backbox clarification
« on: 25 July 2015, 12:52:04 »
Backbox on the latest 2.6 saloon has blown. Ordered one from the net....claiming to fit a 2.2 and 2.6 (2003)
The box has arrived, and I have got the old backbox off. They are different sizes. The new one is smaller in circumference, the front brackets are welded to the pipes, whereas the old one has brackets welded to the box. The new box does look as though it will fit.
Question is, being smaller, will it still work ok :y

As per title...for the drivers door, 2001 Elite Estate, 2.6ltr please.
Will obviously pay postage :y

Thanks
Tony

Hi all,
After the problems with batteries, the knackered battery finished up on the 2,6. Today, I have put a new battery on it, but now the drivers door won't activate on the fob. Other doors do. All was working prior to fitting the new battery.
Does the drivers door motor have a separate fuse. Can fitting a new battery upset something that needs resetting, or is it total coincidence, and the door motor is fubared.
Opinions welcome, please.
I have searched the forum, but did not see a result. :y
