General Car Chat / Fake Address
« on: 01 June 2020, 13:17:19 »
So the bloke who hit my Mondeo at Tesco yesterday has given me a fake address...  ::)

I guess there must have been witness's which is why he went to customer services and got them to call me out on the tannoy, so he could be seen to be doing the right thing.  :-\

The west London address he gave doesn't exist.  The postcode is for an industrial park and there is no road in the area with the same name, although there is a road with a similar name and postcode. :-\

He seemed like a decent chap and said he didn't want to go through insurance and said that he would pay for the damage to be repaired and at the time I didn't really consider that he didn't have insurance. You never know though....  ::)

The damage to my car is minimal and now I've cleaned it up, I have to look hard to see it so I'm not that bothered to be honest.

It's just strange and a reminder that often the people who you think are decent can turn out to be scumbags!  >:(

General Discussion Area / Fake Covid-19 Figures?
« on: 30 April 2020, 22:47:35 »
Seen this on Twitter where people are claiming that deceased relatives are being recorded as Covid-19 victims when they died of other things and no symptoms of CV-19.  :-\

General Car Chat / BMW Engines
« on: 14 April 2020, 23:00:55 »
So in another thread we mentioned the BMW straight six engine and in the strange and slightly scary way that the internet works this Top Gear article about BMW engines popped up on my Facebook feed.  :)

Warning: A small passage within this article may cause offence to some and may be considered downright heretic by many! :o  >:(   ::)  :-X

General Discussion Area / Planning Permission
« on: 14 March 2020, 14:06:09 »
I went to see a house yesterday and the back garden was like a bomb site.  The agent told me that there was planning permission for a double story extension and they'd put the foundations in, but didn't get any further.  The couple who own the property are going their separate ways so whether the project stalled due to their personal issues or they made a start and left it so the PP didn't lapse I don't know.  :-\

My initial thoughts were to fill it all in and lay a patio over it all, but since then I've looked at the plans and they look really good.  :y  I guess that laying a patio over the site would probably mean that the PP would lapse, so I was thinking about a deck instead as that would be a temporary structure?  :-\

Get this though..... The planning permission was granted in September 2007!   Even though they've made a start, can that PP still be valid after all that time?  ???

Obviously I need to investigate further, but I'd appreciate any thoughts from the OOFerrati please.  :)  TIA!  :y

.. the perfect house!  :)

A modern detached dwelling with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and several toilets, built in low maintenance materials in a contemporary style, set in a large secure plot that provides parking for several cars, a large garden which is mostly lawn, and a big garage.  Local amenities include Go-Kart track, stock car/banger racing stadium and adjacent airfield for quick getaways, parachute jumps etc.  :y

Oh did I mention it's got a big garage?  ???   :D

General Discussion Area / Grand Infrastructure Projects
« on: 12 February 2020, 22:38:45 »
It's catching!  :o

Following HS2 and Boris's GB/NI bridge here's a grand project in today's Guardian.  :y

I had to check the date as I thought I'd lost 6 or 7 weeks, but then realised that as it's all about climate change, it will be taken very seriously by the commentariat!  ::)  :)

So after yet another review Boris has given HS2 the green light....... Until the next review!  ::)

I think that they have spent so much time and money on it so far, that they should stop procrastinating and get on and build the bleddy thing!  :-X

And while they are at it, build it to Glasgow and Edinburgh as well!  :P

General Car Chat / Corsa Knocking Noise
« on: 28 December 2019, 19:12:32 »
Cadged a lift with a mate earlier in his 08 Corsa that has an awful knocking noise from the front end.  :o

My mate is not slightly mechanically minded and has been told that it's the steering column?  So I'm just wondering if this sounds right?   ???

By the noises as we went over the bumps it could be any of a number of things, but I was wondering if a noisy steering column is a common Corsa thing:-\
