Omega General Help / dipstick tube

is there a small bolt at the bottom of the dipstick tube where it enters the sump. I can see one near the top which is removed but the tube wont budge.

on a dti there are two a/c pipes that run across the front of the engine & recently whilst putting a new crankshaft pulley on which also meant I had to get to the tensioner I remarked to a mate that the a/c pipes are in the way. he said if it was his car he would do away with them. next week I am going to fit a power steering pump & the a/c condenser is shot. so would I do damage removing aforesaid pipes . it would make the work much easier.

this number is for a power steering pump & apparently was updated to end with 551. it comes complete with its housing or mounting unit. what I wish to know is it compatible with a 2.2 dti omega.

Omega General Help / drive belt update

today I removed the belt tensioner ready to put a new one tomorrow, but this is what I found the belt had somehow peeled a layer off its exterior & has its been rotating managed to wrap itself round the back of the pulley & jamming it. the tensioner is ok. so the fault lay with the drive belt. I have never known a belt to do what that did, peel off just like pulling cotton off a reel.

I had to replace the power steering pump on my dti a few months back. if my memory serves me right the gasket is a rubber O ring which I didn't replace. there is an ever so small drip that is coming out where it bolts to its housing . I don't think a gasket sealer will be of use as the pump slots into the housing & the 4 bolts that secure it in situ are on lugs. I very much doubt if vx will supply the o ring on its own.

I let my local garage do a pair of wishbones. my front n/s locking nut has been swapped for a different type. I presume somebody is driving around with an odd one.

Omega General Help / drive belt

today I had to have recovery get me home. the drive belt came off. it hadn't snapped but on inspection it had stripped off half of its ribs. I haven't a clue why but for the last couple of days I thought that I detected a humming noise. all pulleys appear ok on initial inspection, but will check more closely tomorrow. any ideas of what may have caused it. my last aux belt change was mid April.

whilst on holiday in Crete the hotel we stayed in offered free wifi but it was a nightmare & hit & miss whether a connection could be obtained. my wife connected automatically to a greek network but mine never. on arriving home my phone would connect to the data but i wasn't able to do anything. it would ring but i wasn't able to answer nor call any body. apparently my sim card was kaput tho no explanation was given. now i am receiving loads of emails from Germany. i also are having problems with my facebook a/c. ( i very rarely use it ) logging on is taking me to the American site, my profile tells me i live in Denver. trying to contact anybody has up to now been a futile task. probably because i am talking to a machine

its happened again . my wife was going to buy a swimsuit off the amazon site. the delivery date put her off ( 3rd Sept ) as we fly off on our jollies early next Tuesday. however if she paid £27+ for express delivery she could receive it on the 22nd - 24th so on the 20th she ordered it. at 7am this morning a text came from DHL telling her to expect delivery on the 28th. a few hours too late. because the seller has dispatched it she cant cancel . why do these people lie.

has any body had dealings with these. I ordered and paid for a couple of wishbones on via amazon on the 30th july & was given a delivery date of the 14th august. this came & went no goods. amazon advised me to contact them & after a number of emails with no reply I asked for money back. the company is based in Thorn Nr Doncaster & the telephone number that they advertise doesn't even dial before a voice intervenes saying nobody available to answer the phone.

is there a member of the oof living near Dalton Nth Yorks that had their mig in for its m.o.t at the end of may . it was a black estate dti same model as mine. the testing garage was the Springhill Garage Dalton. two migs getting tested simultaneously & of the same spec would be quite a rare thing nowadays. never seen it since though.
