General Car Chat / A report into the bleedin obvious

EU emissions and fuel consumption tests are inaccurate. According to the report in the US the EPA does the tests in the EU the manufacturers do! No room for any biases and selling advantages in the EU then! :o :o :o :o

They estimate fuel consumption is typically 40% out when comparing manufacturers and real world figures costing the typical owner £2,800 in extra fuel costs over the period they own the car. :( :( :( :(

I can see like LIBOR there are going to be many more revelations on this. ::) ::) ::) ::)

LIBOR and other banking scandals, FIFA and now the fiddling of car tests have all been exposed by US investigations, which means we should also be asking the question where the EU and EU country Government's spend far higher amounts on regulation and Government in general, why are they so useless at their jobs? :( :( :( :(

West Ham have for a few top PL teams this season, with council house Mancs another scalp today. :y :y

Only got three out of 7 results correct today, including one exact score, 60 pts to my total. ??? I did predict correctly that West Brom would beat AV, Bournmouth would win and the exact score Newcastle would lose by. :y

I know this is a US website and they have picked cars where manual versions are still available in the US, but still an interesting assortment.

General Discussion Area / Summary Justice

For or against?

This is in the context of the ISIS scum meeting an RAF Reaper as part of sending them to meet the real grim reaper. This is a very grey area in UK law and I personally think it needs to be clarified, so providing service personnel follow their rules of engagement they are immune from prosecution, which is where US service people stand.

IMO I can't see why we can't make belonging to ISIS or their affiliates illegal and subject to a formal rules of engagement policy. That way any citizen that joins them from the UK or any other country knows that they are subject to airborne based summary justice. If they ever return to or visit the UK they can then be tried for any illegal activities and war crimes, including treason if they have been associated with an organisation that has plotted or executed any attacks in the UK or anywhere else on our citizens. IMO legally, this is then little different to supporting the other side in times of a formally declared war.

I think doing this would remove much of the glamour that is associated and seems to attract radicalised UK citizens.

What do others think?

General Discussion Area / Incapacity Benefit
« on: 27 August 2015, 16:21:35 »
The IDS and DWP have been trying to hide the number of deaths while people are claiming incapacity benefit. A FOI was denied which was then granted by a judge in a court hearing with IDS and DWP appealing against the ruling.

Where I believe good Government is generally transparent Government (defense and FP being the exceptions) I signed a petition as part of a campaign to get them released. IDS and the DWP have finally relented and here are the figures for those that are interested.

General Discussion Area / Komodo Dragon Chillis
« on: 22 August 2015, 23:37:49 »
I bought a pack of these tonight where they have just been introduced into Tesco. These are the new hottest chilies in the UK and at 1.4million Scoville units they are hotter than Naga and Scotch Bonnets. They are fer, fer, fer, fer, fer, fer, flaming hot when eating them raw and after the first quarter of one, I've have had to take a few minutes break before eating the next quarter, which made me a bit light headed, after 3/4 quarters which included where the seeds form, hotter still so my stomach was like an inferno and this is a first for me, I had to take two swigs of milk and I've now finishing the chili, but I have had to take a couple more swigs of milk where the cumulative effect of the chili has now made my mouth an inferno. :o :o :o :o :o :o :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

After about 5-10 minutes now all settle down. :y :y :y :y Would I eat a raw one again, yes as it was a challenge and if anybody wants to see it done. :y :y :y :y
