Last few bits if anyone wants them, as the Elite is now at the far end of the compound ready for the crusher, which may be here tomorrow, or the next day, but most likely before Friday. Hate seeing cars go, especially when they're mint low mileage examples like this. No idea why it went in the scrappy, my theory was the cambelt had gone but who knows?

Plenty left on, such as...
Prodrive spoiler, unmarked as far as I can see
plenty of engine ancilliaries etc.. pipes and so on
ABS ECU - 2.5 V6 Auto
Velour Elite interior in light grey

The alloys got scrapped, and the self-levelling shocks got a screwdriver stabbed in them before I got there, sadly. But if you can think of anything, ideally simple enough to get off, as I'll only have my dinner hour and hand tools in which to get it off, please let me know.  :-[

General Car Chat / More bits needed - fuel lines, now!
« on: 26 January 2015, 10:48:32 »
As per title - when running on the drive the smell of petrol is getting pretty extreme, and after a quick inspection, the old girl has a small weep at one of the joins right near the fuel filter - assuming one of these pipes is now in need of replacement, what are my options, please?

Due to the car not being moved properly in so many years, I'm basically leaping to the conclusion that the lines are just getting near their end, rather than for instance 'a jubilee clip needing a nipping up', or similar. It's either this, or the plate on top of the tank that's corroded. The boot's full to the brim of spares, at present, so will take a bit of clearing tonight to 'remove this from my enquiries'!!

A few months back a fellow OOFer was after some as I recall; I offered the good pipes off the 37k model at the scrappy, but on finding out how cheap new pipes could be got for, we all agreed it wasn't worth my while getting the used pipes for him, so thinking/hoping they're not massively expensive?

Thanks in advance to any OOFers who've had petrol whiff issues!

General Car Chat / Turbo Weasel Barrel jammed this morning
« on: 16 January 2015, 10:26:29 »
Well, as per title, my grumpy, mardy, constantly irritatiing Turbo Weasel decided to wind me up a bit more this morning.

Will try and hunt out the how to, I imagine is on here somewhere. Strip it down, and oil/lubricate up, I imagine. Won't attempt without the how-to, though; I seem to recall if you pull something out too far, then it all springs out all over the room..

Really just wondering if anyone's got any ideas as to how I can get the plastic shroud off, as the steering lock is on, and don't think I can get to the screws to remove normally.

Looks like I know what I'm doing this evening!!  ::)

£1/litre in sight, apparently.

And I drive a Diseasel!!  >:(

Right, I need to get the V6 fixed quick!! A rather nice full-circle thing, when she was laid up petrol was about 97p/litre, be great if the next time she gets filled up, it is with fuel at the same price  :y :y

General Discussion Area / Kids and splitting parents :-(
« on: 22 December 2014, 12:07:06 »
Good friend of mine at work has separated (never married) from his missus - mutually. No cheating, no massive messy break up. They have one biological child together, and the elder he took on and treat/treats as his own, both are under 8 yrs old. Now she's got herself a new bloke, who's already started to dictate to her how she should be treating her own kids, and putting the poison in about her now-ex bloke/my mate, after several months of cancelling his night for the kids, due to bizarre last-minute reasons/hungover (yes, hungover) she's now decided that he (that's my mate = he) can't see his own kids over Christmas.

Now I know that I could be painting this guy out to be a saint, and you'd all not know otherwise, any idiot can lie over a typed forum like this - but he is a great dad. Dotes on them, loves them to bits, and spends every spare penny on them. (earns sfa in the warehouse at work, but as I say, spends every spare penny he has on them) we've nothing we can really do to help him, they've started seeing solicitors, but no-one at work has any experience in this field to help with. He's a legend and we all love him, and the place would be quieter/duller without him.

Just wanted to say, the following, really...

B!tch.  :(

General Car Chat / Where's me panels!?
« on: 12 December 2014, 10:33:14 »
Arranged for three panels, possibly four from a bloke that sells Omega parts - got them very cheap - driver and rear passenger door and a front wing.

Didn't have a NS rear door, so just the three... then the wing blew over in the wind, and he's managed to lose the rear door. Oh dear!  ;D

So on the hunt for panels again, as per -

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / WTD: Panels in Z20R met Black
« on: 12 December 2014, 10:30:19 »
Z20R metallic black rear door and OS front wing, please  :)

Had them all arranged, but the wing blew over in the wind, and was scratched to hell, and the seller has lost the rear door. Not his week, really. Or mine!  :o

Possibly after NS rear door, too, but as the car's up against a wall I can't get to it until I can move her (can't do that until my HT leads arrive :y)

All need to be very good nick -  Scratches just in the lacquer, very minor dings I can live with, but no rust, that's all. Thanks!

Omega General Help / Grumpy Diesel getting silly now... :-(
« on: 10 December 2014, 16:43:37 »
Suspect my lift pump is on the way out, and when I get half a chance, I will do it (though the weather's not provoking me to do it any time soon)

However, now I've got the issue that the revs seem to dive by about 200rpm when I change from P to D... doesn't matter if I have load like heated seats, lights, blowers etc. or not. and as the tickover has always been a shade slow on this thing, on about 5 occasions in the last week or so, the engine has stalled. Pretty embarrassing and annoying stuff at traffic lights, as you can imagine. First time it happened I was making a relatively tight turn from a standstill, and the subsequent power sapping caused by the PAS pump caused it. But now it's to the point where every single time I am about to engage D I'm praying it will engage ok. Resorting to leaving it in D at lights + footbrake but I don't like dazzling drivers behind me, it annoys me when people do it.

All I can observe is that it hasn't done it in Sport mode...yet. Also, immediately after starting up, when idling at approx 900rpm (before warmed up) there appears to be no appreciable drop in revs at all when I move from P to D.

Oh, and while sat on the house front, waiting for my other half to appear, on her emergence, I blipped the throttle - whereupon the engine just died.

Is this all related to lift pump - or is there an expensive gearbox issue going on here?

Merry Christmas!!  :y

General Car Chat / NOOO!!! SO near yet so far!
« on: 10 December 2014, 14:39:00 »
Just rang up a guy on ebay, he's got some panels in Z20R, I've got him to put aside two doors (vastly cheaper than trying to repair / repaint the existing doors) but asked out of curiosity "where is that OS wing you had, by the way, did it sell?" "No" came the reply "it got caught by the wind and brown about 6 feet across the concrete.

 :'( :'( :'( :'(

So.... let me know if anyone's got any metallic black Z20R front offside wings, yes?  :y

General Car Chat / Tips for Brakes that have been stood a while..?
« on: 09 December 2014, 10:32:47 »
Next on the list, once my new HT leads arrive, and she's running nicely, will be suspension and brakes, one corner at a time. I'm guessing I'll be looking at changing the brake fluid too, also got some pads and discs, but when it comes to the calipers I'm thinking -

I pump all the way in, (nearly) all the way out,
check for corrosion/bad perished seals.
check for damage to hoses

Aiming to give them good clean up, and to paint them too. So thinking that this would be a perfect time to replace brake fluid, if the calipers are off the old girl for painting.

Anything I've missed?

Thanks in advance, here's my favourite Christmas smiley  :y

« on: 08 December 2014, 08:50:47 »

General Car Chat / Crunchy HT leads!
« on: 05 December 2014, 10:51:03 »
Replaced my HT leads last night, just wondering if a faint crunching noise when you flex them is a sign of leads past their best. They're crusty, split and ready for the bin anyway, but thought I'd inquire, as I've never come across this before. (I'm only young  ;) )
