General Car Chat / Mirror question
« on: 25 May 2012, 14:22:32 »
The drivers mirror has been well and truly been wiped out, whist parked by a passing vehicle >:( >:(
OK so I need a replacement and will go on the look, in the meantime I have a drivers mirror, complete, but for a pre facelift, will it fit, as a temporary fix?

General Car Chat / Another Merc question, Auto Gearbox
« on: 22 May 2012, 22:19:01 »
Prompted by another question........... :D :D

I want the oil changing in the gearbox on the Jeep, it a 2.7 CRD engine and auto gearbox from Mercedes, is there anything special about doing this? can my local, good all rounder independent do this or do I need a Mercedes specialist, not main dealer?

The Jeep Forum was shut down, not quite sure why..... ::) ::) ::)

General Discussion Area / Omega depreciation
« on: 19 May 2012, 20:15:48 »
This subject came up on another thread but thought I would post separately, keep that one on subject ish :D ::)

Just sold an estate for £200, I bought it in 2007 for £1200........so depreciation of £200 per year, I think that is pretty good..... :y :y  It has never failed, it has been serviced, had a cambelt, a crank sensor a second hand dis pack through oof and a new set of front disks and pads, cost £50 following a tip off on here..............I wonder if that is all i will need on the Jeep over the next 5 years, they are all 'service' items and therefore expected costs...... ::) ::) ::)
I could have saved more money had I done the work myself... :)

Estate is going on Sunday, if the load cover is worth anything I will keep it, to sell on, the purchaser of the car will not be worried, people have missed out on excellent pfl body parts.... ::) ::) ::)

« on: 17 May 2012, 21:49:24 »
Tax renewal has come through on the old Mig, well it is going so intend to Sorn it. Now, then it has come through with the private number on, since changed..... so can I sorn it online with this form hoping that the serial number will pick on the right car regardless of reg no? or if I sorn it online will it sorn the new Mig with now sports that number?

Ok our old Estate FOR SALE but selling as spares or repair

I bought this car blind, off ebay in 2007 and has been in almost daily use up till February this year when I took it off the road a few days of it having had a disagreement with a Deer.

It had not moved since then but has been started a couple of times, battery will be low if not flat.......easily sorted.

The apparent damage is minimal, the wing came away from it fasthers in front of the wheel well, this has been re screwed into place. The narrow strip under the headlamp has a piece missing / broken off, their is still hair and mud? on the car from the impact.

I believe that the impact has broken the washer bottle as water pours out as quick as you pour it in.

The bodywork would put many cars of its age to shame, the car is not clean inside or out.

Mileage is 81880, cambelt was replaced in August 2010 at 72799 Miles so you can see it does not do a lot of miles, swmbo used it for commuting to work and to the caravan (Static)

Could do with a service and the breathers cleaned out.

Radio cassette is original but not fully pushed home, it has been in and out like a yo yo till I modified the carrier to stop the plug coming out.

Air con not working, but did, so guess just needs a re gas.

Right hand door mirror glass is broken, ill fitting replacement glass broken a bit, but I do have a complet replacement mirror, in the correct colour, black, purshased off the forum.

Central locking does work but key in door only, 2 keys with car.

Car Has MOT till Aug 24th and tax to end of month when it will be sorn.

Assuming the handbrake is not stuck - yes I know ::) ::) ::) I assume this could be driven away, but it would be illegal as it has no washers, free fairy liquid bottle included ;) ;)
£250

General Discussion Area / Why, so little fuel
« on: 28 April 2012, 21:41:02 »
She has gone to a works do so I had to give her a lift and pick her up later tonight..... ::) ::)
I grabbed her car keys, I like driving this Mig... :y :y Got in, started her up, the car not swmbo, no petrol, she said there was loads, said it would get her to work and back for a couple of days yet, just above the red.....range 48 miles..... ::) ::)
Why run the car so low? she does it all the time and I keep telling her, what if there is a road closure, we are in a rural location so any detour could be a long way...........I get 'jittery' when the needle hovers above the 1/4 mark....Filled it up on the way home..... :D :D :D

We moved offices today :'( :'( only over the road, we were all packed up, 40 ish large plastic crates, fully laden with paperwork / files etc weighed a ton, computers and other equipment and some furniture. Pickford's lads came in like a whirlwind, could hardly believe how quick they moved everything, and no lift at the other end so everything had to be carried up the stairs............not fully unpacked yet though ......... ::) ::)

Can't say much for those responsible for having everything ready, some desks not built, not enough phones and a few other issues, but by Monday we should be sorted, I am taking Friday off..... :D :D
