Omega General Help / Wishbones on ebay, opinions?
« on: 16 May 2010, 20:49:20 »
I realise this may not be the right section, but it may help some OOFers. Seen there on ebay:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330344175139&ru=http://shop.ebay.co.uk:80/%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3984.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D330344175139%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_5969wt_732
Just over £50 the pair inc p&p, and are described as OE quality, cert to prove etc. Is this a scam or are they any good? I have new ones on so no use to me,but worth asking questions about I thought.

p.s. If required, please feel free to move this to the correct section.

Omega General Help / Wishbone advice required please.
« on: 14 May 2010, 16:27:57 »
I need to change my N/S wishbone, done a few but this is my first nearside one on a facelift. I got a Unipart one, but there is no bracket for the HID level sensor gizmo. Do I weld/bolt a bracket on or is there something I have missed?

Omega General Help / HBV leak
« on: 20 April 2010, 09:37:06 »
I have a slight weep from the bottom of the Heater By-pass Valve, Mine is the TD though, and the HBV looks different to the petrol ones. It is also fitted to a bracket & I can't see how it can be removed.
Anyone changed one on the TD?

Omega General Help / TD Lift pump swop. Advice needed please.
« on: 30 November 2009, 16:51:12 »
I have had a couple of hours in a very windy drive, attempting to change my lift pump. The Guide is brilliant (Nice one Platty) but when I looked at my pump, I saw that the white nylon fitting was adrift, (I assume the flow of Diesel is upwards into this fitting). This presumably is why I have had to keep the tank above half. On the other end of this fitting, there is a black plastic clip, which I can't seem to undo. I will attempt to upload a pic of the view I have when looking into the tank, note the loose fitting. I have since tested my pump and it works perfectly (Typical).

I have cleaned my filter before, so I assume the fitting coming adrft is my fault. Does anyone remember a sequence of putting this lot back together?  I don't want to let the pipe come loose again.

Omega General Help / TD Broken down.
« on: 27 September 2009, 13:26:49 »
I went to a car boot sale this morning, car was fine, been stopped there half an hour, went to start it, spinning over OK but would not fire. Tried locking/unlocking a few times, no joy. Tank was half full, I know I need a new pump for the tank sometime but never had a problem with at least 20 litres in the tank. drained a bit of Diesel out of the fuel filter, looked perfectly clean, no muck, no water. Undid the Banjo on top of the filter, & filled it up with Diesel. The engine coughed & spluttered into life, but then died, repeated this & it started, I nursed it to a filling station the other side of the road & filled up. This proved there was half a tank of Diesel in it. The car behaved itself all the way home, even when driven "briskly". I will be replacing the pump, but anyone suggest anything else? It points to fuel starvation, but never had any trouble before.
I fitted this filter not that long ago, I have also cleaned the filter in the tank. The Diesel has always been clean, and I have added Diesel Magic to both the tank and the filter in the past.
Oh, and you can't do the paperclip test on this model, or the pedal trick,

Omega General Help / Facelift mirrors Dismantle - How?
« on: 14 May 2009, 19:24:39 »
The black plastic surround on my driver's door mirror is not quite fitting right, has anyone taken one to pieces? (without snapping anything). I have looked for a "How too" but without success. I just need to refit the plastic, but would appreciate advice first.
Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / Turbo Diesel bad starting - Help!
« on: 22 August 2008, 09:19:24 »
OK 2000 CDX TD, Was running perfect up until last night, went to start the car, engine turning over but not firing. After a couple of attempts, it started, then ran fine. Tried it this morning, same effect, pumped the throttle & it burst into life, running perfect again. Obviously there is something wrong, I would probably start with the glowplugs, but have limited experience of Diesels so would appreciate any advice. I have no warning lights up, and wish there was a paperclip test I could do. There is plenty of fuel in the tank, and I don't suspect filters as it revs oK when started. Thanks.

Omega General Help / Rear wheel camber - how much?
« on: 30 November 2006, 23:19:59 »
My tyres on the back seem to be wearing on the inside edge ,more than the rest. I suspect the camber is too far out, but I do know that Vauxhall set it like that for better handling, the question is - just how much should the wheels lean in? I suggest measurements at the rim, and please include wheel sizes. I haven't measured mine yet but am sure they are out. I have 16" Elite alloys on, and had the camber checked about two years ago, and have just replaced a broken spring, otherwise would not have noticed anything wrong.

Omega General Help / Had a prang, may need suspension help
« on: 02 November 2006, 23:39:28 »
Right, failed to negotiate a bend, flattened a sign, flew over a ditch, made a door in a hedgerow, then landed in a field. Front end is do-able, rear is a bit of a mystery, the back wheels are well out of camber, and I mean off the scale, I need to find out what is bent/broken/twisted or whatever. I have had a good look under the car, but nothing is obvious, think I will nip to the scrappy to compare. Anyone here got any ideas of what would "give" to take the impact??? All replies welcome, even the micky taking ones - well, it was my fault.
