Omega General Help / Smoke from engine
« on: 01 November 2011, 11:22:50 »
I noticed smoke coming up from the engine bay when i switched the car off today. It came from just left of the power steering resevoir. I am baffled as to what this is - and can see no wear marks anywhere and despite further testing cannot replicate it. Any ideas? I first thought a gust of wind pushed exhaust fumes but there is no wind today :'(

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / WHEEL NUT COVER
« on: 15 October 2011, 17:44:41 »
I am after one of the wheel nut covers for a standard bolt. Can anyone help please?
(I did post the other day but i must be going mad because i was adamant the security bolt one was missing :-[)

As above - i noticed the other day one had "fallen" off. The one to go over the security bolt looks a slightly lareger size than the ones for the standard wheel bolts. Once on all 5 covers per wheel protrude out the same amount.

Might be a long shot i know.

Omega General Help / Slight coolant loss
« on: 05 October 2011, 13:55:01 »
As above - some guys had a look at the recent oxford meet and there was no leak spotted. There was one jubillee style clip that TB said looked slighty out of place, which i have repositioned but i noticed when i started the car this lunchtime that some coolant had gone onto the floor. This could only have happened when i turned the engine off at 9am or when i restarted at 12:15 but for the life of me i can't see where it has come from.

Anyone have any pointers please?

Omega General Help / Correct colour part? Glovebox handle
« on: 03 October 2011, 18:12:05 »
I have just got a new grey glovebox handle - part number 9105031 but whilst it matches the colour of leather intrerior it does not match the glovebox or the existing handle ???

I understand the sun may have faded things but the glovebox seems to have a slight tint of beige to it and i wondered if there were different shades of grey available for the glovebox handle.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Split pipe?
« on: 28 August 2011, 00:54:39 »
http://s369.photobucket.com/albums/oo140/Radar_07/PIPE/

The rubber pipe that comes down to form a t shape is split 50% of its' length down, but it is a very clean break as if it is meant to be there. I think this is a brake servo vacuum pipe but not sure. can anyone advise what purpose this rubber sleeve holds and is it supposed to be half slit. It is located to the right of the brake resevoir and following it round it ends up on the rear right hand side of the plenum.

Also where can i get a replacement rubber replacement if it is needed?

Omega General Help / Diff pinion nut
« on: 25 July 2011, 21:55:28 »
On my diff. pinion nut i can see a few lines of threads. This does not look normal to me and i wondered if there is an easy way to check this (i have looked at the maintenance guides for diff seal change but this is something that would be beyond me, plus if i retightened to the same position it would still have some threads showing :-/ :-/

Can anyone offer some advice?

Omega General Help / CD Changer Code
« on: 20 July 2011, 21:01:29 »
I have a ccr6000 (tape, tuner, built in 4 cd changer - not in the boot) - i have just got a new car pass which states the radio code but does not show the cd changer code. I am assuming i do not need a cd changer code and wondered if anyone could confirm?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Is my diff seal not tightened properley
« on: 02 July 2011, 18:27:56 »
I was looking at the maintenance guide for the diff. pinion seal change (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1157722402) and i notice the seal as shown in picture 1 sits tight against the diff. but mine sits more like the 7th picture (which says almost off). I can see a couple of threads also on the metal bit.

Is this an easy thing to check/tighten? I wonder  if this will cure the slight leak i have as opposed to having to change the seal one day.

Any pointers appreciated.

Omega General Help / Oil drain plug
« on: 27 June 2011, 11:19:20 »
I have a large bolt as my drain plug (2.5 petrol) and wondered if it is better to switch to one with a torx head when i next change the oil? Is it just a straight swap and if so does anyone know what size the torx is please?

Thanks
