Omega General Help / Autobox software upgrade
« on: 31 March 2007, 16:19:36 »
It's probably been a while now since some of you guys had your autoboxes upgraded, eveything still ok with them? or has any strange things started to occur with the boxes since the  software upgrade;  just wanted to confirm it's worth doing as I might be getting mine done sometime next week.

Omega General Help / Autobox upgraded
« on: 04 April 2007, 08:44:39 »
Got the autobox upgraded yesterday from V.1 to V.10; seems to be better transition from 2nd to 3rd change up, feels more like the 1st to 2nd which was always good and also slightly smoother into top, wouldn't say there was that WOW factor to be honest, probably had a good box from the start; shame it didn't get rid of that first pull away thrashing up to 3,000rpm in the morning,  anyone managed to get rid of that somehow?

Omega General Help / Climate Button
« on: 12 March 2007, 14:09:50 »
ECO button covering came off and the button was completely white, found my interior repair kit I bought from Halfords, which came with Black & White paint, mixed them up and painted the button followed by a letter 'E' using some Letraset. question is do you reckon it looks ok or just crap! ;D

Omega General Help / Ecu software upgrade
« on: 05 March 2007, 09:04:36 »
Question for any of you guys that have had their autobox software upgraded; have you noticed any warning lights come up on the dashboard of any kind, since the upgrade, as I was talking to a Vauxhall engineer recently and we were discussing the upgrades and he tells me that  in some cases it has been known for random warning lights  showing themselves since upgrades on some vehicles, has anyone else found this ?

Omega General Help / 3,000 RPM change up
« on: 21 February 2007, 19:29:13 »
Does anyone know how to stop this changing up @3,000 rpm when cold , I no the reason why it does i.e getting the Cat' warmed up as quickly as possible etc, it but find it damn embarrassing and also don't feel it's doing the car much good either as it sounds like it's being thrashed when cold ; so is it ecu related or can something be disconnected?

Omega General Help / Steering Idler
« on: 14 February 2007, 19:36:44 »
Has anyone noticed there steering feeling a bit stiffer after changing the steering idler , just seems to require that much more effort to  change slight direction/correction when on motorway for example, not a real issue but just something I've noticed, either that or my arms are getting weaker! :)

Omega General Help / KYB shocks
« on: 31 January 2007, 19:30:22 »
Has anyone fitted KYB Gas shocks to there Omega?
I've just fitted new Kyb's to the rear of mine as the old ones were weeping oil and just wondering what others thought of them if fitted.

Omega General Help / Knocking
« on: 01 February 2007, 08:56:42 »
I was wondering if any one gets this symptom with what I think is the Wishbone bushes (droplinks have been changed and can't see any visible wear in bushes);  e.g exiting a dip in the road I get a knock/clonk then later in to the journey it will knock/clonk one more time at some stage , then all is ok for several days even that same dip won't cause it to knock, almost as if bush shifts out of place then back into place!!
What do you reckon guys?
P.S hope the above makes sense

Omega General Help / brake noises
« on: 14 January 2007, 16:58:27 »
Does anyone get the dreaded brake noise with there car that sounds like a dry joint moving, bit difficult to explain, but happens when slow braking to a stop, I'm hoping it's just the fact that the car is an Automatic and is still trying to creep when the brakes are only lightly applied, causing  a  noise as the disc slips between the pads, bloody annoying!
what do you think?

Omega General Help / N/S idler arm
« on: 04 January 2007, 14:59:40 »
Does anyone know the correct torque settings for the idler I know the setting for the one that connects to the centre tie rod assembly which is 60Nm, but need to know setting of the other end where the heat shield connects to.

Omega General Help / Fuel return pipe chafing
« on: 24 December 2006, 11:27:32 »
Just thought I'd mention that had some issues with coolant leaks just recently and in the process found that the clip on the Large outlet pipe coming from the Coolant Tank has been chafing the Fuel return pipe quite badly (as it runs under the pipe) but think I caught it in time by just moving the clip round. So might be worth checking your own car.

Omega General Help / Cold running
« on: 11 November 2006, 17:26:15 »
Does anyone get this with their 2.2 Omega; when engine is cold and around the 1500 -2000 rpm, I get what feels like driving over rumble strips, what I have noticed is that if fuel gauge is sitting between empty and 1/4 it's worse strangely enough but once engine is warm everything is fine.

Omega General Help / Front brake pad wear sensors
« on: 18 October 2006, 19:46:59 »
Had a look at the brakes recently and noticed only one wear sensor fitted on the nearside only, no evidence of any wiring' plug for offside, anyone else noticed this on the facelift model.

Omega General Help / clunking
« on: 16 October 2006, 14:09:02 »
If i hit brakes hard, going over speed humps down dips in roads( these dips  :question are the worst), I get the dreaded clunking noises (I have changed the droplinks) seems to happen for a short while then all seems ok , also noticed that if it does clunk it needs to clunk again as if something is going back into place and all is well again for a while, don't get any wandering etc that is particularly noticeable, my suspicions are the wishbone bushes but can anyone confirm this.

Omega General Help / AR25 autobox
« on: 29 September 2006, 19:18:48 »
When in slow moving traffic, I've noticed that the the change from 1st to 2nd gear is smooth but when it's at the point where it's changing up into 3rd and you have to ease off the gas again at almost the same time , i get a thud noise, it's seems almost as if the autobox thinks, lets change up then suddenly finds it needs to change down ,could be me confusing it in slow traffic!
it's a bit difficult to explain but if anyone understands what I mean, do you get it with yours, I'm almost sure my old Carlton used to do it
Cheers
Pete
