General Discussion Area / 'A' Roads / Motorways
« on: 13 August 2008, 20:53:52 »
Why are some roads motorways, but not?

ie, was on the A74(m) today.

To all intents and purposes, it is a motoway, so why isnt it?

Best reason we could come up with was so 'L' drivers could use it?

any better ideas out there?

General Discussion Area / Threatened!?
« on: 31 July 2008, 21:31:48 »
I was having an ok evening, spirited drive home from work in newly WIM'd MV6, stopped off at the chippy. Whilst waiting to be served i was aware of 2 men looking at my car, not unusual. As i walked out of the shop to get into my car they stepped in front of me, one of them said
'Thats too big and powerful a car for a little girl to be driving, best hand over the keys'
I just turned round and walked back into the shop, where another kind chap offered to walk me back to the car.
I felt really threatened and intimidated by these idiots, wasn't even sure they were joking.
I'm used to men commenting on me driving my 'husbands big car' and telling me i will never get petrol in if i pull up on the wrong side of the pump, but this took the biscuit!!!

To add insult to injury i am 30 and 5'8", so hardly a little girl!!! >:( >:(

Any other ladies experienced anything like this or do i just look totally wrong for my car?? :(

General Discussion Area / DVLA car tax clmping van!!!
« on: 13 June 2008, 14:01:44 »
Just looked out of the window to find a man in a police like uniform eyeing  up the tax disc on my car! Went out to investigate and he was sitting in a DVLA wheel clamping van on the phone! He then got out to recheck my tax whilst completely ignoring my questions!

I then stood in front of him and demanded to know what he was doing. He said that he had been sent to clamp my car as it had been shown on a mobile camera as untaxed!
He then said that he had spoken to his boss and was unable to clamp as it is tax exempt due to disability. And is displaying a valid tax disc!

Any one heard of any thing like this before?

 :-?

General Discussion Area / My new toy!!!!!!!!!
« on: 18 May 2008, 19:23:22 »
I picked up my nice new toy yesterday. I have bought a 1998 S reg MV6 estate. And its a manual!
The bodywork needs a little attention. the wheels are in great nick, two of them are brand new.
Thanks to Jaime for his tech 2 work on the way home.

Jimbob has done some servicing today,
Changed the oil and coolant, unblocked the scuttle drain, blocked off the egr, and stuck in my nice new tax disk holder and rear window logo  :D
Needs some new wiper blades, a brake service and a crank sensor now, a breather clean, fuel filter and spark plugs.
Oh, and remove the bloody shin breaker  >:(

All i need now is to keep hold of my driving license! ::) ::)  ::)
