General Car Chat / GM genuine engine oil good price

hi don't know if in right place but can a administrator move if need be,thanks,
anyway was looking around yesterday for price of genuine gm oil and after getting price of £23+ 5ltrs at dealers was very surprised and happy to find vauxhall world parts are doing it for half price at moment ,normally £17.99 5ltrs getting for £8.33 + vat so £10 good price i reckon only down side is delivery £8 but cost of 10 ltrs and a oil filter bosch was £33.

morning all, seems fix one problem then get another.
anyway symptoms are:
trying to park at low speed/revs very stiff
when driving get the feeling it wants to pull either way
the steering fluid is filled and seems ok
there is a trace of fluid on hoses but nothing drastic
doesn't seem any noise just a feeling of pulling
don't know if this model has that servtronic relay? could it be this?
its a 2001 fl 2.6 mv6

hi looking for coil pack for my car, unsure if it is died but reckon try another to see if that will help misfire,believe part number 9118115 /bosch- 0221503027
also looking for knock sensor for bank 2 as car shows knock sensor fault.

hi folks, can i ask if anyone knows the time allowed under autodata to change 1 or 2 coil packs on my 2.6 v6 mv6 2001 ?
short story, had misfire called aa they came out car showed multi misfire faults and knock sensors. car went to garage and as i have garage repair cover with aa they called to make claim, they diagnosed car at the garage but unsure whether the oil in wells had caused misfire then knock sensore or whether coil packs had fault so anyway aa allowed them 1 hour to find and rectify problem.
the aa said they would pay 1 hour labour plus 1 coil pack.
so the garage told me and to save bother i paid for rocker cover gaskets to get done at same time to take that cause out. and they via the aa changed the coil pack on passenger side.
hoping that would fix it,the car seemed to run fine for about a mile or so, faults still showing knock sensor fault 0330 it did show also 0325 but that not on now, the car has also still got misfire, so back to square one.
i called the aa and they are looking in to it but they say according to autodata time allowed to change coil packs is 1 hour which includes diagnosing fault,can this be right?
and what to do now?

hi to all, have had previous posts about some of the issues i have and have since last post had rocker covers done as the plug wells were filled etc. at this point i also had code 0330 knock sensor bank 2 but after getting rocker covers done that went but got 0325 knock sensor bank 1 in its place. i also had spanner light come on now and again and put that down to gear box oil level; as had some issues with that also. today i got it wrong by checking level of atf, i jacked up drivers side but never ran engine,when undone the plug atf poured out, once it stopped i started engine and squirted some in but as doing so some still trickled out so am i right in assuming that there was too much in first place? i then lowered car none came out so raised car again and put in plug and went for wee drive,gear change seemed fine,but as driving spanner light came on so stopped car and done pedal test and got 0325 which was there but now 0330 also, so sorry if sound jibberish but i know very little about these cars. so anyway was reading some posts and wondered if the icv could be problem? car does have wee tick over problem. can anyone suggest what to do now? and is there any members around fife that are good with these that can help? many thanks

hi to all, i posted a short time ago about faults i had namely knock sensor code 0330, i also had really bad leak from rocker covers and decided to get them done,during this being carried out the garage found and showed me that the wells were filled with oil,now i thought that maybe why getting 0330 knock sensor bank 2 so anyway they done job on the cheap.
got car back today and for the whole of 10 minutes showed no codes or warning lights. then spanner light on so stopped done pedal test and code now showing 0325 and after checking my sheet found knock sensor bank 1 , well here we go again. i have read many articles about trapped cables etc and to be honest don't want to abuse garage again, i tried locating cable,checked connection that was fine but cannot get down to block to check that connection. 1.to fat to get underneath and don't have ramps, i reckon possible that cable was trapped when rocker covers put back on,if this is the case and i can find the block connection would it make sense to get another knock sensor and just replace? the car is running a bit ruff and you can notice slight hiccup.any advise appreciated thanks

hi looking for a member in or around fife who knows his way around the passenger side engine.
i need the knock sensor located and looked at and also the plug wells checked. i still have code 0330 showing and sometimes eml light comes on,fuel consumption higher and gear change a bit eratic (don't) know if that's the atf level or not.
would appreciate some help as i am absolutely crap at mechanical things,but willing to contribute your time.

morning all!
could someone please verify to me whether knock sensor and where they are on my 2001 2.6 v6 please
so car running crap and sluggish, i did get caught short the other day and used asda fuel. i did the pedal test and if i read correctly it is fault code 0330 it was 10 blips 3 then 3 then 10, so reckon 0330.
i have read a couple articles on the knock sensor and tried to follow instructions to where located but i must admit i am thick as still cannot find. has anyone pictures of these fixed in posistion ?
if not can someone give me the complete idiots guide to the knock sensor.

hi to all was wondering if there were any members around the bognor area?
i have a leak unsure where from could be rocker cover or gearbox (auto) as damp under sumps.
i am travelling down to bognor on monday will be there till fri morning, really asking incase i have problem on way down from fife.
if no mechanic members can anyone advise good workshop in bognor area?

Hello to you all!,
i am taking my 2.6 mv6 on holiday from fife to bognor regis and then minehead "hopefully"
anyway my rocker cover gaskets are leaking and i thought that whilst in bognor or minehead one of you top guys can maybe fix it for me. i am absolutely useless at mechanical stuff ask hotel21, anyway would need to source the gaskets and let me know rough costing so anyone who feels that they can do this job drop me a line.
will be in bognor from monday 2nd july to friday 6th and minehead late 6th to sunday 8th july.

hello to all!
three wee problems i need help with,hope wee anyway!
1. had recent oil change at local garage ,a few days have gone by but have noticed some cream on filler pipe and cap,none in expansion tank and none on oil dipstick.
2. last couple days temperature needle takes its time,car heats up etc heat in blowers but expansion tank mid to low when cold but after running short time almost at top and bubbling,hoses very hot top and bottom.
3. central locking, i assume i need door solenoid(drivers) as past posts similar i think. you can use remote to unlock all doors excepty drivers,deadlock works,but drivers door until today only operate by key and pop up button sticking sometimes but today after locking car went to get something and now drivers door wouldn't open at all.
eventually got drivers door open hold key to right after click and lift handle, door pin still stuck down.
so any help much appreciated firstly i guess need drivers door solenoid,so if any members have one can you drop me a line.just to say its a facelift 2.6 mv6.
