General Car Chat / Bu**er
« on: 19 January 2012, 18:21:21 »
Bu**er, Bu**er - just been stopped for 45mph in a 30mph limit - radar gun.

Derestricted country unlined road - 30 limit starts just as you come round a bend - plenty of police there to deal with the queue of nicked motorists!!  Think they were getting everyone as they came into the 30 limit.

Now joined 2 Jaguar forums - found that whilst the few guys that are on are friendly, there's a distinct lack of technical knowledge compared to OOF - lots of references to owners handbook which doen't really help with solving technical problems.  Think, as a new member on these forums, I have probably imputted more technical assistance than most.  Distinct lack of gurus!!

Anybody had similar experiences with "other marque" forums (should that be fori?)

Omega General Help / Radiator drain plug

How do you get the radiator drain plug out to replace o-rings.  Cannot seem to get it far enough out to depress locking tangs.

Omega General Help / Front Pads
« on: 17 August 2011, 22:24:12 »
Anyone got a pic showing how wear sensor clips into front pads and whether inner or outer pad (seem to remember inner) - forgotten as I shorted out sensors on mine a while back but will be fitting new pads and sensors in the next couple of days

thanx

Omega General Help / Misfire
« on: 31 July 2011, 16:02:38 »
Now got a V5 Elite saloon - only running on 5 pots.  Narrowed it down to rear plug drivers side.  Swapped plugs and set of ignition leads - still the same.  No codes showing.  Definitely no spark at that plug and compressions all around 200psi.

Guess its the DIS pack - which I can see just and feel (changed the ignition leads one at a time) - and have the scars to show - as I'm on Warfarin tend to bruise easily and also cut easily (PITA or in this case in the wrists/lower arms)

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to swap these, and what sort of bolts hold them in - is it a torx with a female head and what size is it?  Best bit of kit to remove?

Or is there someone local with smaller hands than me and less tendency to bleed who is prepared to help for cash or beer tokens?

Thanx

Omega General Help / Leccy window
« on: 27 June 2011, 19:18:28 »
Passenger window has decided to pack up - you can hear a faint click as you press switch, either up or down - all others work ok.

This is the door which has an intermittent fault on the central locking - sometimes works other times not - got a replacement "solenoid" for central locking just not had time to fit.

Any suggestions re window - are the two faults connected or just coincidental?

For 1998 Omega Estate - windscreen washer pump (twin outlet) - which is correct part nº 90585762 or 90492357?  Are there two types?  If so what is difference?

Thanx
