I'm thinking of changing the wife's Vx Meriva for a FRENCH car :o

Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.6HDI 7 seater

Why?  Cos I can lease it fully maintained, inc road tax for 3 years at £225pm. No maintenance worries and acres of room for anyone who wants a lift, like visiting parents. 1.6 will be slow but she only has a 1.4 now so no real issue here.

And I can get 5 men inside, 5 kayaks on the roof and bags of room for kit in the back with the rear 2 seats folded flat.

Somebody stop me!

I make no apologies for the length of this post, nor for the flagrant thanks that are owed to those involved.............

Once upon a time (about 2 weeks ago) I asked on here if anyone lived near Weston Super Mare.  I had many replies but one ticked all the right boxes.

I won the Ebay auction and had difficulty with the seller so had to send the boys round no not The Boy ::)whilst I went to Jersey on holiday.

Mr Holy Count spoke to the Ebay chap and paid him cash as requested demanded. However he has a saloon so he linked up with HN03GOH, who also has a saloon, but who's mother has a kayak friendly estate. :)

So off they went, only to find her MOT had expired. So plan B, they turned up in a Renault clit with the seats flat to the floor at the block of flats in Weston.

None of the 16 flats were numbered, so they knocked on the first door.  They were met with a Pole who spoke no English. And another. And another, until they finally found our host - also Polish

He spent more time saying goodbye to his boat than he did to the guys, took his money and went. :-?

The Holy Count, then kindly bubbled wrapped and labled the boat and his wife waited in for City Link to collect it.  Far and above the call of duty.

It arrived at my office the next day and was in the river an hour later. :y

To me this is the true spirit of this Forum and is a credit to its community....as the Holy Count and I have never even met.

So once again.......

Thanks Kev :y

I won my Ebay kayak.

What a job though.  I've been to Coniston today on a steamer and no way would I be back for 3.15pm when the auction ends.

So as the wife likes tea rooms I found a nice one on the side of the lake - a cyber cafe  ;)

Jumped off the boat, postcode in satnav, 25 mins to go 4 miles, sorted :)

Not! :(  Miss bloody daisy at 15 mph at best took 20 mins to get to location, lost phone signal after 5 mins, but still on track :)

Not!  :( Country post codes and satnav >:( Now I'm stuck up a muddy lane with no chance.

So we ran to the lake, got a signal, I bid via my mobile whilst my wife phoned the teenager next door to steal it with 32 seconds to go :o

What a day  :y  :)

I'm bidding on a kayak on Ebay but the guy want's cash on collection.

I've had a "cheap" quote for delivery of £95+VAT :o so that's out.

So, firstly I'm looking for someone to pick up and store the kayak if I get the cash to you, until I can plan a trip down - or meet somewhere up country if anyone is heading north in the next new weeks/months.  No rush.

It's 2m long and would fit in an estate with ease - but wont fit through the cut out in the back of a saloon.

I appreciate this narrows my potential helpers but if there is anyone out there please let me know.  Bidding ends tomorrow at lunch time.

PS This is it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=140257010898&Category=36122

General Discussion Area / Anyone have a Parcelforce account?
« on: 12 August 2008, 17:49:50 »
My kayak is too long for normal delivery service but ok for Parcelforce 48 Large - but this is only available to account holders.

So if anyone uses Parcelforce via work it may be the answer to my problems?  :)

General Discussion Area / I got a parking ticket today
« on: 25 July 2008, 22:03:08 »
I intended to visit a customer this morning out of town so I left my car in a 1hr zone.  Anyway the appointment cancelled and I forgot to move it for nearly 3 hours, so of course I got a ticket.

Why the smiley face then you may well ask......

The muppet that issued the ticket it mixed up my registration and issued the ticket to M9 MWP - and that's not my car - mine's M9 MPW.

So looks like I got away with it  :) ;D

General Discussion Area / Been in the Garage today...
« on: 03 July 2008, 21:27:33 »
After all the men clambering in the back and underneath my car at the weekend, I ended up with a clatter from the back whenever I went over a bump that wasn't there before.

I went back to the camp site on my way home, undercover of course, as I had officially checked out and would be charged car parking fees or shot for tresspassing....anyway....I borrowed Kevin Wood's ears but couldn't isolate the noise as the roads were to smooth and the boot was loaded with the old exhaust and other stuff.

When empty it was worse, so I stopped off in Keswick today and up it went on the ramps.....guess what was wrong??????

on-line that is  :)

You don't realise how much you miss your PC until you cant use it....bloody MSN  >:(

I'm fed up of watching repeats of Location, DIY SOS and Jordan and Peter.

Now I can settle down to hours of midless banter and spilling mistakes ;D

General Discussion Area / Failed MOT today
« on: 02 April 2008, 18:55:11 »
So what do you think I failed on?  :-?

It wasn't tyres as I has 2 fitted before the test - 225/55/16v Pirelli P7 before you ask at £81 inc each  ::)

I'll give you a clue - trade cost to replace with genuine Vx parts £229  :o

I've just changed the oil and my mind started wandering to......

Why is oil black when it comes out of my car?

It goes in nice and brown - what causes the change?
