Omega General Help / Heated Mirrors
« on: 21 August 2006, 19:29:56 »
Mirrors on my Omega are electric, guessing all of them are?  But are they heated?

Do they heat up in relation to turning the rear screen heater on?  Or should there be a little orange LED & push switch on the mirror adjustment switch?  (all it has is a left/right mirror selection switch & joystick)

The drivers mirror does have a heater sign imprinted on the glass, but the passenger doesnt.

If it doesnt have heated mirrors, is it then just a case of fitting a different switch?

Anything else, just ask...

I will update the list as-and-when I find more bits in either the garage, or the car!

Rather have collection on parts, due to size/weight and ease of damage by the couriers.

All parts will be removed on request also, as they are still fitted to the car.

As per title, need an ABS unit for a mini pre-facelift V6 (from 1998 to 1999), doesn't matter what engine or transmission.

Looks like its the pump which has gone in mine, it dies the second you tell it to do the pump test.

Cheers  :y

I'm after a pair of rear shocks for a Pre-Facelift MV6 Estate (fitted with HID's so has to be self levelling)

The car is a 1999 V

Cheers :)

Thought I'd ask on here before it gets scrapped.

I'm looking at parting with my explod.  I can't really afford to do the little jobs it needs.  It isn't the best condition outside, but it works.

I recently had the rear brakes and exhaust all replaced.  Also had both CATS done, it has tax until May next year, MOT till Feb next year.

Now, it does have rust or scratches on every panel.  It does have holes in the dash.

The speedo doesn't work properly due to the ABS unit being faulty (easy enough to replace if your competent enough), and the rear shocks also need replacing (it's like a bus in the back).  Also the passenger side exhaust manifold needs doing.

It has 178k miles on it.  But it does start first turn of the key, it doesn't knock, no smoke, doesn't burn any oil or coolant, and is like a gem!

Also has Manual gearbox, Limited Slip Diff, HID's...

Registered 1999 on a V-plate.  First owner was West Mercia

Now I've been offered £400 for the car as it is (scrap value + road tax refund) so if someone on here wants it for the same, they are more than welcome to come and get it.  I know its worth more in parts, but I just don't have the time, or space to break it.

It's located in Northwich, Cheshire.

Ex West Mercia Traffic Car (you can still make out the word Police on the bonnet ::) ) HID's, towbar, can't complain!

Picked this up last night with suspected headgasket fault...  Ended up being a buggered coolant bottle cap and a blown coolant hose too.  Need to replace the cats on it aswell as they are causing some serious hesitation, but meh its not bad!

Drive home last night was interesting, went through 12 litres of water over 20 miles due to it acting like a pissed up drunk and always going for a wee, so spent today fixing up the engine & checking it over, runs sweet as a nut (other than the power issues due to the exhaust), no knocks or rattles, even the topend is nice & quiet!

Debating putting another 12 months MOT on it when it expires & drive it for a little while as a workhorse (as got quite a few heavy things to move about), but if it fails or if I decide not to, I'll be splitting it :)

Either way, it will eventually be broken & sold off on here once I've had my fill of it!

The old boot handle snapped, so as I was having a hard time finding a replacement, and needed to use the car, just got a whole boot from a 2002 3.2 Elite

Has the Prodrive spoiler too  8-)

Bought Elite Pete's 'Project 1' from him the other day :)  Happy days!  Had a few fun moments last night after getting it home, but nothing major!  Pete really is sound though!  He said if the Omega shows any sign of HG Failure at all (as thats what was suspected when he bought it, but everything pointed to the oil cooler) he would happily take it back :)  So as soon as the issues with the DVLA are sorted and its Taxed, I will be taking it for its first run out, and Llandudno has become my target  ;D

Amazing car though!  So much better than my old poverty-spec GLS which I sold in June!

Anyways, enough banter, this is a Gallery, so PICS PICS PICS!!!

Omega Gallery / Some pics of my First (no ex) Omega... and Corsa..
« on: 25 August 2007, 21:45:58 »
I never did post pics up of my old Omega while I had it, so here goes :)

Bought the Omega back in 2006 for £350  :)  Had full service history and 103k miles!  Quite a bargain  :y

Only thing I did to it while I had it, was new HBV, Droplinks, Exhaust, Timing belt & tensioners, waterpump, ABS module...  Fitted some wheels from a Vectra SRi aswell.  Looked quite well :)

Sold it for £750 of June this year :)  Unfortunately, I was being stupid and put the money into fixing a shed of a Corsa which I had owned since 2004...

However, having gotten sick of putting good money after bad on the 'Track Project', I've decided enough is enough so splitting the whole thing to get another Omega, preferably a very late mini-facelift Elite  8-)

General Car Chat / Y17DT Advice if you can please :)
« on: 30 June 2011, 12:00:27 »
Been a while...

Well, just got myself and the other half a Cat C Astra Eco4 for very few pennies, bodywork and such isn't an issue, but the thing puzzling me is the engine (never really had a Diesel before...)

As there is obviously no history with the car, and the clocks are reading 145k, just wondering what's the best sort of things to do to it.

So far, going to do the following to it:

Timing belt & tensioners
Oil & Filter change
Coolant change
Glow Plugs
Fuel Filter
Ait Filter
Give the EGR valve a good clean.

Anything else worth doing or looking at regarding this engine?  I've already driven it about the lot before I got it, started up fine, no EML or anything untoward, idled spot on and felt solid enough.  Turbo was spooling up just fine, and there were no error codes or anything suspicions looking when reading live data off the engine.  Tiny bit of black smoke under boost when putting my foot down a bit, but I'm just guessing that's fine given the engine wasn't really up to temp.

Cheers for any pointers or tips though :)

Just wondering if anyone will be heading to PVS this year??

http://www.performancevauxhallshow.co.uk/

I'm in the process of sorting this all out for a club I run, but were also going to follow it off with a trip round Europe & to the ring...

Wondering if I might see any other folk at PVS this year??  Possibly maybe even at the ring if the timing is right :)

Its during the 7th and 8th of June, clubs can get weekend tickets for £20 per person (works out a few quid cheaper than on the gate price) and its a pretty good laugh & event :)  Been for the past 4 years running!

General Discussion Area / Anyone good with circuit designs??
« on: 06 October 2009, 14:05:35 »
Hi all, after a bit of help if you can...

I'm trying to make a circuit which will run within a car or something, its to allow a programmed switching of 2 lighting units, using a PIC12F629, couple of P-ch mosfets, and some other bits...

I think I've got something going with this, but I have no idea how to get it to run on a 12v source...  Also need to figure a way of having it as a switched override too so I can bypass the PIC for a steady-on sort of thing...

This is what I've got so far...

http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p266/PaulW21781/86e4c6d9.png

I "think" this is right for how the PIC is connected... I need to get the input voltage down and regulated to 5v though from the 12v source from the car...  Also trying to work out how to get both as a steady-on when a switch is triggered (otherwise, the outputs will switch independantly/together depending on cycle)

Reason aswell I'm using the mosfets, is I will be switching the outputs at about a 10ms cycle rate.  (they will be 12v 4A LED lighting units connected)

Probably making no sense...  But any help would be appreciated  :y
