General Discussion Area / Shower - help needed
« on: 27 August 2008, 18:56:45 »
We've got one of those showers with a pump next to the hot water tank and a valvle in the cubicle.  Its very good compared to the integrated electric ones that produce nothing but a dribble..

However its started playing up.  When you turn the shower on, it takes a while to activate the pump - does eventually but should be (and used to be) instantaneous.  When you turn the shower off, the pump runs on for quite a while - up to a minute or two before it turns off.

So I am wondering what activates/deactivates the pump and why it appears to be getting lazy...  (we live in a hard water area so could be limescale related..)

Any plumbers in the house??

Anyone bought these?  Just wondered if they were the same as the individual ones (inc with deflector in the case of the drivers one) and if they come with alternative fittings for other cars?

Does anyone have Tiscali broadband?

I am considering switching to this
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/talk/?code=ZZ-NL-11GK&srccode=

from BT.
Includes line rental, w/e calls and broadband for £15 quid a month.   I am paying BT something embarrassing just for broadband at the moment.

I don't have huge broadband needs but do want it to work.

General Discussion Area / Auto Aid
« on: 19 June 2008, 16:45:44 »
Has anyone come across this organisation?  They seem to be highly rated as an alternative to the usual breakdown recovery suspects.

Its a bit different though.  You call them, they arrange a local garage to come out, you pay them direct and then reclaim from AutoAid.   The reviews I read suggest it does work reliably.  I guess ultimatly it comes down to how good the local spanner is.

The deal on the face of it is pretty good.  My RAC renewal for me and the mrs recovery only (no homestart) is £92.  Auto aid is £36 inc limited homestart, full recoevry etc.

General Discussion Area / Garage Floor
« on: 28 April 2008, 17:09:21 »
Intend to paint my new garage floor soon (concrete poured 2 months ago)

Does anyone have experience of this?

I was going to use a first coat diluted with white spirit, effectively as a primer, and then a second coat neat.   I can't face all that work on hands and knees so I intend to get a roller extension with masonary sleeve.

Anyway - I'd much appreciate advice from anyone who has been there before.. :y

British weather has been declared Muslim . . .

It's partly Sunni, but mostly Shi'ite.

General Discussion Area / Banking Crisis..
« on: 04 December 2007, 14:55:07 »
Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on Northern Rock BS in the UK, uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.

Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal.
