Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Intermittent wiper delay
« on: 27 January 2009, 20:38:33 »
Here's a strange question......

Have recently fitted a wiper stalk to my cdx with the variable delay intermittent option and done the wiring mod...thanks to OOF for that.

The minimum delay is 4-5 seconds, personally I think that sometimes that's not quite quick enough, and I don't want to turn the wipers to constantly on.

One of the pool cars at work is a Vectra and the best thing about it is that the min delay is approx 2 seconds, which I much prefer.

Does anyone know if this tiiming is set as a function of the wiper relay???

And if so is the miggy relay interchangeable with the Vectra one?

Many thanks  :y

The CCR2006 in my 2002 CDX Saloon is dead, so I have decided to replace it with a JVC KW-AVX810 dvd unit with the additional JVC DAB tuner and an external aerial.

I've seen one of these HU's fitted to an omega on YouTube, so I know it can be done.

Am I expecting to find an amp as part of the current fit, if so where is it? I've had a look at the rear parcel shelf, nothing obvious, there's appears to be no tray housing the amp and no sub, the only speakers are in the front and rear doors.

If this is how it should be, does anybody know the impedence of the standard speakers (have seen lots of references to 2 Ohms, although that appears to relate to bose installations). JVC specify 4 - 8 for this dvd unit.

Finally, I will  be looking to upgrade the speakers at some point, can anybody tell me what sizes I will be able to fit into the doors.

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure that I won't damage the JVC when I first fire it up.

Many thanks in advance.

I'm looking to replace my ccr2006 with an aftermarket unit.

Your thoughts please on:

The best head unit: it must have a DAB radio, an aux input (ideally on the front I guess) for an mp3 player and a tel mute for my Nokia handsfree kit.

Fascia adaptors: can anyone recommend one or am I better off getting a cheapie off Ebay.

Adaptors to enable continued use of the steering wheel controls and functionality of the display.

Any other installation issues/considerations.

Many thanks  :y

Omega General Help / Write off or replace engine???
« on: 04 May 2009, 18:48:29 »
Hi all,

Would appreciate some advice from my fellow forum members regarding my tale of woe that I recently mentioned on page two of this thread:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1239267366/19#19

I've now recovered the car to my home address and am in a quandry what to do next!!!

Do I:

1.   Scrap the car
2.   Break it, not withstanding that I don't really have the time to remove and post the parts or the experience having never done it before.
3.   Replace the engine, but option 2 applies, oh and I'm not keen to spend any more of my hard earned cash :(

I'm reasonably adept at spannering but probably don't have all the tools, and don't have any garage space.

What really hacks me off is the costs Ive incurred this year, including new tyres and stereo :'( :'( >:( >:(

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. :y :y

Omega General Help / Fault Codes P0150 & P0420
« on: 14 January 2009, 20:11:06 »
A few weeks ago my emissions light decided to acknowledge it's presence and illuminate.

Once lit it would remain so until I switched over to gas (I believe it is inhibited when running on gas), that effectively would reset the lamp until the next occurrence. Sometimes it would go for a couple of days without lighting but inevitably it would return :'(

Car was due a service, so I asked the Vx dealers in Taunton to have a look at it at the same time. They diagnosed the Bank 2 O2 sensor which was duely replaced.

Next time out lamp illuminated again, fault still apparent!! :'(

Have done the pedal trick and it has flashed up codes:

P0150 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0150 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0150 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0150 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

 and:

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

Does anybody have any thoughts on the cause as it obviously isn't the sensor???

Many thanks  :y :y

Omega General Help / Unleaded Vs LPG
« on: 12 August 2007, 10:11:18 »
Hi, :y

Having just bought a dual fuel Omega I would be very interested to hear what the members running ther Miggy on LPG are getting mpg wise compared to unleaded.

I've read that economy on LPG is anything from 66-85% of that on unleaded.

Car is indicating 27mpg but doesn't seem to differ between the two!!

Your thoughts please :y

Newbie Welcome Area / Greetings
« on: 10 August 2007, 23:00:37 »
Hello to all,
As my last car decided to self destruct on the A14 in Cambridge 4 weeks ago, nightmare scenario, family on board, loss of power, limped to side of road, burst into flames, game over, 2 fire tenders, police, highways agency etc, etc, family ok thankfully. Had to find a car pronto for work. Came across a low mileage 2002 2.6 miggy CDX manual, with an LPG conversion. Bought it, am chuffed to monkeys with it, (especially the LPG bit!!). Then scoured the net for a decent source of info and came acoss this forum. I have to say I'm well impressed and am looking forward to what it has to offer.  :)

General Discussion Area / I've been scammed!!
« on: 08 February 2009, 18:23:36 »
There are no descriptives worthy of the tinkers that have conned us out of £250 for two Tina Turner tickets I'd bought for my wifes 50th birthday. >:( >:( >:(

Decided to do some digging when I had an e-mail bounced, came across this thread:
http://www.safeconcerts.com/forum/threads.asp?forum_urn=124&t_urn=8935&pgt=1

Web site claimed to be the "official" world tour website!!!

Terms like dark alley and baseball bat spring to mind.

Only saving grace is because I used the plastic I can claim it back.

tinkers !!!   >:( >:( >:(
