Omega Electrical and Audio Help / NCDC 2013 removal Help
« on: 18 July 2010, 19:49:23 »
Today I have tried removing the NCDC 2013 head unit from the mig to fix the CDC flap that the blokes broke at the hand car wash.

Cut a long story short used Double Din removal keys but could not get it to shift, it feels as though something else is securing it in?, Does anyone know how you get the head unit out ????

Cheers

Omega General Help / HELP!!!! water leak
« on: 20 July 2010, 12:16:12 »
Ok,

Cut a long story short water is appearing on the road, at first i thought it was the Aircon system however the puddle has been getting bigger, I opened the bonnet and could hear a sissing noise coming from down behind the engine, and water was running out at the rear of the engine underneath, a quick taste identified that it was coolant.

I have removed the plenum to gain a little more access (lol), and I can see I a plastic component with 4 hoses and an air feed on top, that appear to be water stained, what is this and are they prone to failure,

Just what you need when you have a 200 mile journey with the caravan in tow this weekend hey !!!

« on: 22 May 2010, 14:22:48 »
Hi,

I need to change the condensor on my mig, there is a stone chip it which causes the pressure to drop and thus the compressor does not kick in.

What I am looking for is a list of parts i need to buy that will need changing at the same time.

Odviously the condensor will be needed, but are there any 'O' rings etc that may be required.

Omega General Help / CV Boot.... I Think ???
« on: 15 March 2010, 19:03:54 »
Ok changed both rear springs over the weekend as well as changing the door check strap washers to get rid of the horrid door crack when they open.

However i have noticed that on the n/s rear driveshaft towards the centre of the car there is a rubber gaiter, I believe it is called a CV Boot ?, anyway it has a big split in it so my question to the exprienced out there is ..

1. Is it a hard job to do.. never changed one before
2. It doesnt look expensive but anyone got any ideas on cost involved?

Omega General Help / query fault code ??? any help appreciated
« on: 05 February 2010, 09:24:21 »
hi,

This morning had the EML flash at me then go constant and the car was running like a bag of old nails, anyway did pedal trick to collect fault codes and the normal 0420,0430 popped up along with 0300 and 0304, so guess i need to change the coil pack on bank 2,4,6 and i guess thats what is causing the random misfire fault code  (0300) and the running lumpy like its on five cylinders,  I have only in the last few months changed 1,3,5... due to a similar problem but with bank 3.

The only code that came up that I cant work out is 0115  Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input or could be
P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input

what is it, how do i fix it, where do i start ???? Any ideas ???

Cheers

Omega General Help / Suspension question
« on: 20 January 2010, 18:01:29 »
I have a broken coil spring on the rear I am trying to find a supplier of springs for cars with self levelling suspension, are there any out there ?? or is it a stealers part only ?
What is the main difference between the coil springs on self level, and standard cars, other than the price !!

I have searched the site as I am sure this has been on here before but cannot find it ?

Omega General Help / Front wishbones
« on: 16 October 2009, 09:36:42 »
Hi,

I apologise in advance as this has probably been asked and answered a thousand times before, however I cant seem to find it,
I am looking for the part numbers for both n/s and o/s front wishbones I am looking to get the genuine ones as the last ones were advisory on the MOT even though only a year old... they were cheap and you get what you pay for I suppose.

If anyone has access to Vauxhall price guides would appreciate current costs for retail trade etc.

Omega General Help / Coolant Level warning Display
« on: 11 September 2009, 19:44:27 »
About three days ago the mig started to display coolant level directly after the check brake when starting the car up each time, I have checked the coolant levels daily since and have also been checking the roads surface for coolant discharge, however nothing abnormal is happening, it is not running any hotter than normal but still displays coolant check directly after start up, it doesnt display it at any other time.

Has anyone else experienced this ?
Is there a sensor somewhere that could be faulty, if so where?

Omega General Help / a breakdown any help appreciated
« on: 30 July 2009, 13:06:23 »
Yes today was the day the mig was towed behind the lovely orange vans of the RAC, started last night all of a sudden it shuddered the engine man light started to flash and you would have thought she was a three cylinder daewoo Matiz, anyway the RAC bloke plugged his lappy in and it has thrown up codes P0300 - Randon Multiple Misfire cylinder detected and also P0303 cylinder 3 misfire.. no other codes were present, he was surprised, he said they normally have loads, i nearly thumped his lights out, my response was have you seen the logo on the back window, (OOF sign), we are the elite i said, oof's look after there cars. He just laughed.....

The RAC blokey suggested that coil pack 1,3,5 looks like it has given up the ghost, before i part with 65 quids due that sound about right ??

Any help appreciated

Omega General Help / Aircon Radiator issue
« on: 07 June 2009, 15:07:00 »
Have had the aircon looked at by a mobile chap, he pressure tested the system all seemed ok, he then pushed some gas into the system with the car running, and the system fired up an now running icy cold, he did identify a small leak on the aircon raditor just behind the cooling fans, visible only with some groovy glasses and a special light, the patch was around the size of a 5p piece, possibly caused by a stone going through the grilles, does anyone know the part number, and a good supplier for it, or is it a trip to the stealers??

any help appreciated.

Omega General Help / rear coil spring help
« on: 15 April 2009, 22:01:14 »
Ok, MOT yesterday, she went in with a mysterious rattle coming from the rear of the car when driving over rough roads and speed humps, Failed the MOT on front track rod ends which i did and went back for the re-test, all passed ok, Puzzling thing is that i removed the o/s rear wheel to check the newly fitted air shock was nice and tight, and to my surprise i saw that the end of the coil spring had snapped off.

Does anyone know a good supplier of them, are the like quite alot of the 3.2's parts main dealer only, and does anyone know the part number for a rear coil spring on a miggy with self level suspension.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Climate Control problem
« on: 18 March 2009, 09:20:21 »
Ok, the system was re gassed last July and tested for leaks, all was ok and running well, however yesterday was a little warm so flicked the electronic control from ECO to AUTO, however the system did not seem to kick in, previously the engine note changed and some of the many fans at the front end would jump into life.

I have checked fuses and all seem ok, am now puzzled as to what could be the cause, anyone have any ideas as to where look next  :-/??

Cheers

Omega General Help / Transmission Vibration
« on: 09 March 2009, 09:05:11 »
Ok it all began about 4 weeks ago when a misterious vibration began whilst driving in traffic at about 10 mph, it ressembled a manual car being in the wrong gear, when the car changes from 1st and drives before changing into 2nd and then 3rd there is a vibration that you can feel through the car, if you drive like miss daisy its not there also when driving like lewis hamilton its not there it is only under normal driving conditions it happens.

If you drop the car into neutral the vibration goes, I had the gearbox oil checked by my local specialist and all ok.
The car seems to change gear normally and does not hold or change too soon, now at a dead end and not sure where to look next, i know if i book it in to the stealers or the specialist they will get pound signs rolling in there eyes.
After a short run there is a strange rubber smell almost like something is overheating?

Does anyone have any ideas of things to try next, I have checked the service history and cant see the gearbox oil or filters being changed would this possibly be the cause?? the miggy is 21 miles away from 100k.
I have been told changing them can cause the box to drop gears, is this the case ??
