If so was it worth it and did the 2.5 gearbox survive?

Omega General Help / 2.5v6 (year 2000) omega estate

While driving a few days ago the engine management light came on and off a couple of times. The stored codes are;

16 Knock sensor 1
19 RPM signal (crankshaft sensor)

Now I have had a couple of times in the works car park where the car refused to start for a minute. But apart from that it runs fine.

So knock sensor or crankshaft sensor? Or both?

Omega General Help / Hot starting issue

My 2.5 v6 (2001 facelift) has trouble starting from hot. No issues cold staring ever.

So I'm assuming the following;

Crank sensor - early signs of failure
Coolant sensor (ecu not gauge) - causing over fuEling
Lambda sensors

Is there a common fault or could these be the issue?

Does anyone have the GM part numbers?

Omega General Help / Power Steering failure

Today the power steering on my 2001 2.5V6 estate gave up. It was working fine then slowed down to park the car. The steering shuddered a little then there was no power assistance.

The belt and pulleys are all intact, there are no leaks or damaged pipework and the fluid is clean and at the correct level. So I am assuming either the pump or steering box has failed in some way. Is this a common problem? Any advice before I try and find a new pump?

I will be doing the cambelt on my omega very soon. Apart from changing the water pump are there any other things i should do at the sane time? Advice is appreciated.

Has anyone any experience of doing the above, I've read elsewhere that you can get a 20bhp increase?

This seems to good to be true. Anyone actually done it?
