She sounds like a back of spanners now, and is stilll peeing water from somewhere, after new HBV.... :o
No water leaks to speak off, but I'm now topping it up once a day :'(

I don't have the know how to fix it, and I've already thrown all my months wages at it... I cannot afford any more, The head has been tested with a compression thingy, and it's OK.
Header tank, just stinks of Antifreeze, no Fumes or oil at all. :'(

It's dying..

So Depressed. :'(

Omega General Help / Transmission convertions
« on: 16 October 2006, 16:42:42 »
Hi Guys.

Is it possible to Convert the 3.0 MV6 Auto to a Manual?
I'm assuming all I'd need would be a Manual box, Clutch Pedal and associated bits, and clutch?
Are the mounts for the gearbox the same?

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Breather cover thingy...
« on: 13 December 2006, 15:06:21 »
Anyone got a pick of what it looks like after you remove the "ECOTEC" bit, and the black plastic bit underneath?

I've never removed it, but was thinking about just adding a filter straight to the plenum chamber... as part of my "Mod" session....  ;)

Also thinking of terminating the breather hoses with filters....Never have to clean them again, just wash and clean the filter..... well that my thinking behind it anyhow... :y

Or is that a crap idea?

Cheers

Omega General Help / HBV??
« on: 10 December 2006, 15:45:32 »
Hi Guys,

Did a search but nothing really answered my question on this.

I'm loosing coolant.
Not in the oil, as oil is clean and clear.
No external leaks, so I'm guessing it's the HBV, as the car keeps steaming up.

My question is this:
On the HBV, does the coolant leak when it is on or off?
Also:
What turns the HBV on or off?

Cheers.

Omega General Help / The Best way....

... to Remove springs....

I assume (yeahI know) that the easiest way to remove the spring is to, jack the car up, let the Axle drop, and remove the spring that way?

I only ask, as I found my crimble pressie to Sheriff the "meega", and would like to know if I need to buy a set of spring compressors, in order to fit his new springs... :)

Cheers.

Omega General Help / 2 Easy ones for ya... ;)
« on: 31 October 2006, 18:35:42 »
Hi Guys,

First off, I would like some help with a chirping or rapid chiriping noise.
It's coming from the cam belt cover.
Only had the cam belt kit replaced a month or so ago. Worried that something is going to go twang... any thoughts?

Also I cannot find a VIN Plate on my Car.
The one on the slam panel is blank, so is the one under the drivers seat.
Is there one anywhere else?
Failing that, anyone know what the Paint code for the Ex-Plod White MV6?

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Air Intake Barstardisation....
« on: 10 September 2006, 16:28:30 »
Hi,

Thought I would post some progress up on the Air intake mods that I have tried today.

I thought rather than go out and spend 100s of £s on silliy gimicks, I would start off with what I have....

.....A 3 Litre Dual Ram air intake.

First off I cut the Airbox up...  :) What did I have to loose?

I'm running a K&N Panel Filter in there, so I have next to no restriction.
I litrally cut the bottom from it.  Looks really neat too.... I will gets some pics up as soon as I can.
Piped a direct cold air pipe up from the left of the fog lamp (cut a nice neat hole in the plastic trim thingy), straight to the modified Airbox.

I'm going to run like this for a bit, The beauty of this though is that the rest of the intake system remains in place....  :)

The results:

Firstly, the power...
....well not much improvment, there is a slight, increase, but nothing to write home about.
She seems to be smoother at lower rev's like around town.

Secondly, the sound....

Well, on Idle it's pretty much normal, and also normal driving it's pretty much the same.
BUT, and this is a HUGE Butt, about as huge as Fern britton's butt.

After 3500RPM, it growls, and I mean growls, it makes people look in amazment. it sounds like I have a 4 litre TVR Engine under the hood.
All this noise comes from under the hood, on the right hand side, you can feel it through the throttle pedal.... :D

So in conclusion, a well worth while hour or so with the saw, if for nothing else, the sound alone is awsome and worth it.
I think I may have 1-2BHP more, but like I say nothing special.

Any Questions feel free to ask.

Cheers.

Matt.

My Disclaimer:
If you decide to cut your Airbox up, don't blame me it you bugger your car up...it's not my fault.

Omega General Help / Plugs, leads and a DIS Pack thingy
« on: 12 September 2006, 16:23:49 »
Hi Guys,

As you may know I'm trying to do up my 'meega as a track car...

It's getting near that time to replace the above items.

Any thoughts on what is best to go for, for all our performance... Don't need economy, or any of that environmental clap trap, just Power.

Is it better to go VX, or after market performance parts.

Also does the DIS Pack Replacment procedure require removing the Plememememememeememmumumememe chamber?

One final thing, (it really is) the breather hoses on the V6... I know they all accumulate at that big pipe at the back of the engine....where does that big pip go to?

Cheers for all your help, and extreme patience.....  :)

Omega General Help / Button ID Parade
« on: 04 September 2006, 14:49:39 »
Hi Guys.

I have some buttons in my car, and I have NO idea what they do. (No Owners manual, as it's EX PLOD)

First one is an Upside down sunset, it on the main bank of buttons next to the Hazrad light switch.
If I push it, it goes "click" and the orange light comes on but nothing seems to happen....(Possibly blows up a small house in China)

Second one is a Snow flake symobol on the left of the Auto Shifter, when I push it, the car is VERY sluggish, like it's trying to pull away in 4th..  :o

Any thoughts.

Cheers.

Omega General Help / Noise....
« on: 31 August 2006, 09:35:35 »
Hi Guys,

Was wondering if I could get some help with a noise that have appeared this morning....

It's that darned clicking on idle, it has got so much worse this morning, It's going to have to be fixed - I've asked for help on this before, and I'm pretty sure it's the Exhuast Manifold Gasket, after what everyone else seems to think.
But apart from the irritating clicking at almost any engine speed, is there anything else that would identify it as that.. (I'd like to be sure before I pay to get it fixed)

Cheers Guys.

Newbie Welcome Area / Hello
« on: 22 August 2006, 14:04:49 »
Hi Guys,

Just registered, and had my Omega for around a month now.

She is a 3 Litre V6 Ex-police car.
Loving every minute I drive it... it really does bring a smile to face, thundering around in it.

I know I've just joined this forum, but Already have a question.

Do you guys wave at other Omega drivers?
When I had a Land Rover, People always waved.
I've tried with omega Drives down here (Wiltshire) but they are al misrible gets, and never wave back.

Cheers.

Ok, so I woke up this mornin' is a good mood....
Staggered out of bed to the Bathroom... tried to take a piss with my eyes, shut....
... washed my feet.
sat down on sofa, with cereal and coffee, flick on Beeb 1......

"Blair is going to apologise for the slave trade, and event that happend over 200 years ago....."

I get the vanish out to mop up the spat out coffee.
Just as I'm ready to start again...."yes green tax is the way to go, people should start paying by the mile"

My new carpet is now on order....

Have I woken up in another dimension or something!!
Christ this is first I've heard of all these. (I don't really watch the news normally, as it's such crap.)

Have the folks in charge just lost the plott completly.
So now, I won't be able to afford to go to my inlaws (not always a bad thing) or my mums anymore, without Paying per mile.
This once was a free country, but soon I woun't be able to drive where I like, throw away my rubbish, or say that the slave trade was a good thing, as it helped intergrade the native Africans with the rest of the world.... 8-)

rather hell, how long was I out for.....

Cheers.
