Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Electrical System Fault Light...
« on: 31 January 2008, 19:21:30 »
..on the dashboard of my 2002 Omega 2.2l CD auto has come on a couple of times over the last couple of days.  I noticed no difference in the car at all, but I did notice that it doesn't turn on again when I restart the engine.

Any ideas??

..and was wondering where I could get a blanking plate and mountings for the new single DIN head unit I had in mind??

Newbie Welcome Area / So I bought my first Omega on Sunday
« on: 29 January 2008, 15:36:15 »
It is an 2002 2.2l CD Auto.

I must admit, I was not looking for a Vauxhall, in fact I was looking for a BMW 3 series, but I was swayed when I drove the Omega.

I was impressed with the space, comfort, build quality and also the smooth engine.  I am yet to drive it very far at all, as I have only driven it home.  I am still waiting for my new insurance documents before I can drive it :)

I gotta say I am impressed by my first Vauxhall.  My dad has had 2 Vectras, one of which saved his life in a massive smash on the M25, so I am assured of safety!  Most important when I carry my daughter in there :)

Nice to meet you all!  Pics to follow :)

General Discussion Area / There is a sweet MV6 on Ebay right now!
« on: 09 August 2008, 11:16:31 »
Only 64k on the clock and full Irmscher kit.  Looks REALLY nice.

If only I had the cash to splash, it would be mine :D

Item -  2002 VAUXHALL OMEGA MV6 AUTO SILVER IRMSCHER

Look it up if anyone is after one, it's currently a steal at £1500 but I can see it going higher.

General Discussion Area / Some choice mods planned for my mig
« on: 09 August 2008, 08:13:34 »
OK so I have done a semi 180 on selling my mig.  I figured that no way could I get something in this calibre and whatnot unless I bought a Jag, which given my current lack of £50k for a new high end XF, isn't going to happen :D

So, I plan to do a few choice mods to my mig to make her a little different from the average mig.  First up is tinted windows all round.  I've been told approx £160 for rear and all sides, so not bad.  Then some large (i'm thinking 19") alloys.  I've looked at several and have come to the conclusion that they need to be chunky to work with the proportions of the car.  Third up is a full Irmscher kit assuming I can get lucky and find one :D  And a twin exit exhaust too.....maybe even twin pipe, twin exit :D :o

I'd like to put some ICE in her too.  Back in the day when I was but a mere teenager, I had a thing for high end audio.  Not obnoxiously loud audio.....quality audio.  With plenty of space in the mig, this is a definite plan.

I'd like to lower her too once the alloys go on, to give a little more asgression to her looks.  I'd like to rip the interior from an Elite too.  Black leather all round :D  I'd like black carpets and door cards too, but not sure if this is possible.  We'll see.

I was discussing this with my mate James at work.  Now he and I are quintessential gents when it comes to cars.  We like the XF's, A8's and 5 series of the world.  He thinks (given his critical mind) that the mods would work in the cars favour but uneconomical in terms of overall car value.  I agree, but people do this all the time.  She drives well and feels like a car 10 times her value, so I see no reason why I shouldn't.  Cheaper than going and buying one of the above mentioned motors :D

Morning peeps! Sorry for the rambling, I'll shut up now :-X

It's a 2002 51 plate 2.2 CD auto.

Body work is in really good condition, only one small scratch down the left, and a little mark on the rear bumper.  Interior is extremely clean, and it has only done 62000 miles.

I've seen them up for close to three grand, but I think thats a little high.

What would you pay for one?  I have had little interest on mine, and I have it priced at OIRO £2500. :-?

General Discussion Area / MPG rates for LPG in a 2.2 auto
« on: 14 July 2008, 16:21:59 »
Hi peeps,

Given the fact that I am considering an LPG conversion, I was wondering roughly what sort of MPG to expect from my 2.2CD Auto if I were running on LPG??

Thanks in advance.

I went to the Audi dealer yesterday to enquire as to the price of an A4 diesel, and to see what they would give me as a trade in on my mig.

I damned near bit the hand off of the dealer when he told me book price was £2875 and they would give me between £2300 and £2500!!!

Damn!  I was surprised to say the least.  I just couldn't afford the extra £11000 for the A4 I was looking at. :(

General Discussion Area / Fuel prices forcing car sales??
« on: 08 July 2008, 19:19:01 »
Anyone else feel like parting with their car for something that runs a fair bit more economically??

At an average of 29.9mpg since I have had her (6 months), I am finding the rising fuel costs a tad crippling, and as such am considering selling my rather lovely Omega for something a little less juicy.  Fuel has gone up over 20% since I bought the car, it's way beyond a joke now.

General Discussion Area / MOT and exhaust question
« on: 24 May 2008, 15:30:19 »
OK, I took my mig for her MOT today, and she passed :)  However, I did ask the tester if there was anything to note.  He said that some parts of the exhaust system were starting to deteriorate.

This led me to start thinking about a replacement exhaust.  Who makes a nice aftermarket exhaust system?  I don't want anything with a ridiculous tailpipe, I kind of like the rounded square slash cut one that it already has (apologies for the awful description!!).

Has anyone put an aftermarket system on and had any nightmares or stories to share?

Ta!

Nick

General Discussion Area / I have the modifying bug.....
« on: 26 April 2008, 19:59:10 »
And I think it is going to cost me :D

I have looked at the Irmscher and Steinmetz kits for my mig, and I love them.  Trouble is though they are pretty costly.  And I would like to spray the car metallic black.  Don't get me wrong, I love petrol blue, but I have a thing for metallic black.

I'd also like a nice set of subtle 19" alloys, tint the windows and debadge the car.  I like the sleek look of smooth bodywork.

It's either the above mentioned project of buy a BMW 330ci cabriolet  :)

Did 250 miles round the M25 and up the A12.  Got pretty good consumption if you ask me :)
