Hey Folks, how we all doing?

I'm known as Colv (real name Davie Colvin)
and at the mo I don't have an Omega but one shall be mine, oh yes, one shall be mine!
I've always liked the omega just for the sheer prescence of them on the road so I've decided it's about time I had one to call my own
That being the case, sense tells me here is a great place to find out exactly what I'm getting myself in to huh lol

At the mo I have a 55 plate Fiesta 1.6TDCi (tiny, no presence, no comfort...but goes like sh#* off a shovel and costs £35 a year on road tax :y)
and I'll miss her when she goes, but I'm pretty sure a 3.0l V6 Elite will sort that out, thats what I'm intending to get anyway... ;D

Omega Gallery / several layers of polish later...
« on: 24 March 2010, 22:05:23 »
Well, the plan is to properly concentrate on the 10 years of drive-thru car wash swirl marks a panel at a time so we went around the car with a cutting compound to take out any minor blemishes then on the bonnet (phase 1 of the plan) there's 2 layers of meguiars cleaner wax, a layer of Autoglym deep shine, a layer of carnuba harley wax and another layer of cleaner wax!! the rest of the body is just a layer of cleaner wax and the results are loverly!

I'm certainly happy with the results, for a 10 year old car she looks immaculate  :y

Omega Gallery / I name thee... err... The Omega!
« on: 21 February 2010, 23:47:48 »
So I picked her up on wednesday, drove the 100 odd miles home up the A1, spent thursday chauffering the (human) other half around west lothian then finally on friday I got the chance to wash n wax her!

So driving up on the wednesday, could have drove for hours in comfort... but the missus decides she needs the loo thus giving me the first picture opportunity at some services or another

The pics are taken on my iPhone so they're not amazing quality, my bad!

The conveniantly placed XJS was quite tidy

Now the washed pics!

Also I removed the CDX badges from the doors, much easier to polish!
and applied Meguiars High Gloss Gel to the tyres and mud gaurds

A week monday my 'well into car detailing me' mate wants to get his hands, quick clay, carnuba wax and polish pad on her
she'll look showroom, Soooperb!!

General Car Chat / Have you ever named you cars?
« on: 05 March 2010, 21:42:32 »
I've had a habit of naming most of my cars... well, they named themselves for various reasons

My last car, 2005 TDCi Fiesta was called The Feist because being a turbo diesel she was pretty nippy off the line, thus Feisty

and I'm edging toward calling The Omega Tom for the front grills homage to Tom Sellecks tash  :D
or also due to the 'Cruise' control hehe

So I was wondering what other folks have named their cars! and why?

General Car Chat / Bringing another Omega to OOF!
« on: 16 February 2010, 11:01:52 »
Well, I've liked the Omega for a while and I knew I'd eventually get one
so, all going to plan, I'll be picking up a 2000 W reg 2.5i V6 CDX tommorrow

I would never normally do it this way but I've never actually seen the car yet, it's a hundred and a bit miles away on a forecourt, but at the same time he's buying my car blind aswell, and Omegas aren't exactly 10 a penny so...

So I'm asking for some advice on what to particularly look for to know what to walk away from or to not worry extensively about, in terms of Omega specific points, I'm not a mechanic but i'm not a tyre kicker either

The Omega has done a tiny 42000 miles, it'll have a years MOT and will be serviced, the cam belt was changed in december there, it's got a full service history and 'all the buttons' work so it really seems to be fine

What are peoples thoughts?
